August Goal Setting

Time to decide on my monthly goal for:

For July, I'm going to make the back, quilt, and bind the True Hope quilt.  I just finished this quilt top on Monday, and now I'm itching to get it quilted.  I'd like to gift this quilt to my cousin Rebecca.  As I've said before, this quilt is named for a favorite quotation of mine from Shakespeare's Richard III:  "True hope is swift and flies with swallow's wings."

Also, it's time to think about the progress I made on my July goals and set some new August goals for:

Never Too Hot to Stitch!

My July goals included:

1.  Quilt and bind the "You Are My Sunshine" quilt.  Complete!

2.  Complete the quilt top for the True Hope quilt (pictured above).  Obviously, complete!

3.  Start on my July Newfo project, the "Strawberry Time" table runner.  Complete!

4.  Complete my July Doll Quilt for the Doll Quilt Swap.  Complete!

5.  Complete the apple blocks for the Mumm's the Word sampler by Debbie Mumm.  No progress.

Oh my, no.  This has been on my to-do list for two months now.

6.  Make two more blocks for the Yard Art quilt.  No progress.

Ooops!  No.  And that's been on my list since June too.

7.  Make the next door for the Doors of Ireland quilt.  Um, no.  No progress.

This is the door I want to make, but it's still sitting right in the same spot it was sitting a month ago.

8.  Make the next cat for the Folk Art Cats quilt I've been working on.  No progress.

Ditto what I said about the door block.  Oy.

So I think I've bitten off all I can chew given the busy summer I'm having.  August promises to be equally busy, and so I'm not going to add any more goals to my list, but just try catching up on the ones from last month.  The only exception will be to catch up on my little ladies for the Rainbow Scrap Challenge.

The color for July was teal, and while I picked my fabrics, they haven't progressed any further than that.  As I write this post, I don't yet know what the color for August will be, but my goal will be to make the two blocks from July and August to add to the party.

So with all that said, here is my list of goals for August:

1.  Quilt and bind the True Hope quilt.
2.  Complete the apple blocks for the Debbie Mumm sampler
3.  Complete two more blocks for the Yard Art quilt
4.  Complete a door for the Doors of Ireland quilt
5.  Complete another cat for the Folk Art Cats quilt
6.  Catch up on the Rainbow Scrap challenge

It still looks like a long list, but hopefully, I can get some of them off my list during the month of August.

Oh and I almost forgot.  I've been trying to finish a quilt top per month for quilting in the subsequent month. September's goals will need to be scaled back considerably since we'll be traveling most of the month. Nevertheless, I think I can finish the Wonky Houses quilt top since that is a small quilt.  Then, I should be able to get it quilted in September.  Heck, I might even take it on our trip and hand quilt it.  So one last goal:

7.  Finish the Wonky Houses wall-hanging quilt top.

A reasonable August list and I think the Wonky Houses will make a great traveling companion. You know you are going to want to feel some fabric away from home.

You actually got quite a lot done considering some of the hiccups that came up in your life this past month. I have not touched my Folk Art Cats either. So many projects that are languishing!

I think you just forgot that in July you were ACTUALLY making your July AND August goals list. That's my story & I'm sticking to it!

ummmmm.....frickin' ambitious! you're WAY more organized than I - I can't even put a list together in my head, much less "on paper." :) But, knowing you, you'll get it done!

You still had a pretty good month, even if you didn't get to all your goals.

You seem to cram more into a day than I do into a week so you are an inspiration to me -- all the more so because you have time to play highly cultured games with Smitty as well!
