Blogoversary Celebration and Giveaway!

THIS GIVEAWAY IS NOW CLOSED...SORRY TO HAVE MISSED YOU

Wow!  Who would have thought I'd be sitting here today writing this post?  Really, who?  Come on and 'fess up!  Certainly not me.  When I started Cat Patches, I thought it would be fun to participate in the linky parties I saw on other people's blogs.  I figured I'd only be writing when I wanted to link up.  Heck, I didn't even know if I would write anything at all!  But you all have been so kind and supportive and such wonderfully loyal readers, I couldn't help myself.  Now I'm hooked on blogging and chatting away pretty much on a daily basis.

To be serious for a moment, I want to thank all of you who have followed along and left such witty, helpful, encouraging and supportive comments.  You all feel like old friends even though I have met only a few of you in person.  Let's see if I can remember all of the events we've shared over the past three years...

There was Fun Fact Friday Freebie:

Foto Finish (now playing at Commotion from the Ocean of Life):

Occupy Your Sewing Room (that was fun!):

The 2012 NewFO Challenge:

The 2013 NewFO Challenge currently running:

I can't leave out the Doll Quilter's Monthly doll quilt swap (Join in!):

And I wouldn't feel right if I left out Captain Cattastic's blog, Cattanooga Choo Choo:

Do you remember when my button looked like this?

Of course there have been blog hops and giveaways all along the way.  All in all, a busy and productive three years of blogging, quilting, gardening, cooking, photography and kitties!  Seems like an excellent reason for a party.  Smitty and Gracie have been celebrating all week!  Don't they look excited?

Those two.  What a couple of party animals!

As a thank you to all of you who have made blogging so much fun, I have a giveaway prize!  I'm giving away an 11-fat quarter bundle of Marea by Dear Stella Fabrics.  These should brighten your summer sewing!

And I'm going to make it super simple for you.  Just leave a comment.  Any comment will do, but if you need an idea, answer me this:  If you had an out-of-town guest coming to visit, what would you take them to see in your local area?  That's it!  No hoops to jump through...just plain fun.  I will ship internationally, and so this giveaway is open to all residents of Planet Earth.  I'll leave comments open until Monday, July 15 at midnight and announce the winner on Tuesday, July 16th.  Good luck!

Hello Barbara,
Happy third BlogDay. I'm a relatively new blogger, and don't blog as often as I would like too - too many things to do! I have enjoyed my visits to your page enormously.
Now if I had an overseas visitor, I would take them to the Reptile Park just up the road from our house. Not only snakes and wriggly things as the name suggest but a really good way to get up close & personal to Australian animals which just wander around the park.
If I had an Interstate visitor, I guess it would be a bushwalk along our lovely coastline with its gorgeous beaches. We have mile upon mile of those.
Cheers,
Dasha

Love your blog :) We have so much to see/do here in northern Michigan but the top 2 would be Frederik Meijer Gardens and John Ball Park Zoo

In our area we have the Beautiful Spring River which is a main attraction for canoes and rafting. The beginning of the river states at Mammoth Springs so we take our guest to see the beginning of the river and watch how much water comes out of this spring per hour. It is a beautiful park with little signs at different areas that tell the history.

Happy Blogoversary! I only found you within the last year but I've thoroughly enjoyed following along! When someone comes to visit here, we often go to Galena, IL. It was the residence of U.S. Grant and eight other Civil War generals. There is lots of great shopping, neat architecture, and wonderful restaurants - a fun spot to visit for a few hours or a few days. ~Jeanne

Congratulations! Time flies when you're having fun, eh? I'd love to take my out-of-town guests on the gondola ride up to the top of Bald Mountain (Mt. Baldy to locals). Whether it's summer or winter, you get up to the top and you can hike around, have a nice lunch, view with friends, and see a 360-degree panoramic view that is totally awesome. Makes a really nice day.

Don't know exactly when I jumped aboard, but it must be nearly from the beginning. I've enjoyed following and reading all about your life and times.
Not too much happening in my neck of the woods, but maybe a bonfire on top of our hill or a cookout in the middle of the river that is the Canadian boundry if the river is low (usually in Sept). With border patrol running rampant in this area now, I don't know if they'd leave us alone to do it. :P

Happy blogoversary! I so enjoy visiting your neck of the woods and seeing whats up. Your photos are fantastic and have inspired me to try to take better pictures for my blog and I love that you love to cook like I do and of course there are your quilts. Thanks for so much fun.

kc said...

And a VERY happy blogoversary to you and the party animals! It's been great fun getting to know you & laughing along (or commiserating) with all your adventures. Your photos are ever entertaining and often educational too, and *always, always* in focus. (how DO you do that???)

My oot guests always get the grand tour & here's where we go:
*Shiner, home of Shiner Bock Beer & 2 quilt shops (not a small feat, considering the town is only 1 block big!)
*the beach - ANY beach, Rockport (1 quilt shop), Port Lavaca (1 quilt shop), Corpus Christi (the State Aquarium AND a couple of quilt shops), Magnolia (sadly, no quilt shops, but still a nice beach), Port Aransas (again, no quilt shops, but dynamite fudge shop, and a free ferry ride over & back)
*Goliad, birthplace of Cinco de Mayo (yes, really!)
*geocaching pretty much anywhere & everywhere
*The Texas Zoo, where we volunteer, so the animals can be seen & touched up close & personal
*San Antonio, home of the famous Riverwalk (and who can forget the Alamo!)
and if there's still time after all that, Bandera, where they still run the longhorns into town every Friday night! (but, we have longhorns just down the road, so you won't *have* to go out of town to see 'em)

B Greene said...

Happy Blogiversary!!!!! What a great milestone to reach. We have beautiful waterfalls near our house, so that is usually our first stop. Thanks for the giveaway and I look forward to the next three years to see what you are up to!

Dar said...

Barb, Happy blogiversary to you for 3 wonderful years. You are such a witty person and Smitty and Gracie are so lucky to have you as a mom.

I would take out-of-town visitors to our free, world famous St. Louis Zoo, up to the top of the Arch, to a Cardinal ballgame and then to dinner On The Hill - traditional Italian restuarants. Let me know when you are coming!!

Congrats on your overflowing 3yrs of blogging - what a great effort!
In Sydney you'd have to climb the Harbour Bridge and go to a concert at the Opera House and a long walk around the Harbour foreshore to see the contrast of old and new parts of Sydney.

Happy, happy blogiversary! Hugs and cuddles to Smitty and dear Gracie!
Hmmmm, we just had visitors here from Taiwan, and we took them to Falls Park in Greenville (SC) and they really enjoyed it. If we'd had time we could have put our bicycles to use on the Swamp Rabbit Trail. (Don't those names pique your curiosity? LOL) Thanks for the chance to win!

Wow three years of consistent blogging. Congratulations. I was so excited to see that Foto Finish was continuing elsewhere but when I popped over to that blog it seems to have fizzled out in early May.

Congrats to you, it has gone by fast.
Well if you came to visit you would need to visit some of the nice quilt shops around here. Then we would have to go hiking in the Ozarks.

Congratulations on your Blog Anniversary! I would take friends to Grand Canyon. It`s very close and cooler than our lake which is about 115 degrees now. Love your party cats! They are sweet.

Happy Blogiversary! We like to take visitors to Nickajack Dam on the Tennessee River. It is fun to watch a barge, river boat or even a fishing boat to go through the lock. Thanks for the giveaway.

Happy Blogaverasry to you, Happy...

I think I've been on board about 6 months, and it's been fun.

From Portland I'd hit the Columbia Gorge drive, Mount Hood, and "She Who Watches" on the WA side. I know you asked for one, but I'd pick from these three the one the guest was most interested in. :-)

Happy Happy Blogiversary!! Here's to many more years!! If I had visitors we could always go to San Francisco, that is like two hours away. We could go to Reno or Tahoe, they are 2 1/2-3 hours away. We could go to Yosemite National Park, that is also a few hours away. I do have several quilt shops that are alot closer we could go to, hehe.

Thank you for a super giveaway and a chance to win.

Wow - I can't believe I almost missed your Blogiversary!!!! I've been out of town nursing a sick daughter and she doesn't have internet. I hate trying to read blogs on my phone and I was much too busy anyway.

I wouldn't miss this celebration for the world! Cat Patches is my favorite blog - and I don't tell you that just to flatter, it really is! It's always the first blog I check for news. Of course, I first fell in love with George =^..^= But who could resist Smitty and Gracie? You always seem to be up to something interesting and fun! You've even inspired me to be a better cook - and that's saying something :*D I've enjoyed tagging along for your blogging journey, and I look forward to many more blogs to come!!

As for a visitor to my town, we always take them to the Opryland Hotel and then to Downtown Nashville to see the sites :*)
