This is from a pillow pattern I found in Lynette Anderson's book, It's Quilting Cats and Dogs.
I saw this book at a quilt show, and it is chock full of the cutest patterns. There are several more patterns in this book that are on my to-do list. In fact, I included one on my NewFO list for later on this year.
So here's the quilt I made. My name for it is, "For the Birds".
It's quilted simply, mainly by outlining around the blocks and the applique designs, but I did some diagonal straight line quilting on the dog's panel. The applique templates were increased 200% as instructed in the book, but I used the book-sized template to make this little dog label for Janet.
The back fabric was left over from another quilt I made from a Lynette Anderson pattern called, A Kitten's Tale.
I just love her patterns.
This morning I took some time to work on the embroidery for the Wonky Houses wall hanging I'm making, but it's time to stop now and get going. Today promises to be a busy day. I need to make some frozen breakfast burritos and a potato salad for our trip to the beach this weekend. Also, as long as I'm in the kitchen, I'm mixing up some sandwich mix for a wrap we'll have for dinner.
Mike has pulled the trailer around, and so I'll do a little bit of packing for our trip today. I need to wash the sheets on the bed, and do a few other housekeeping chores. Still, there isn't a lot of packing to do for a weekend trip, and especially since I won't be doing much cooking this weekend. Also, I won't be doing much blogging this weekend, although I imagine I won't be able to resist posting a picture or two using the Blogger app. And that reminds me, I learned about an "Eye-Fi" memory card for my camera that allows me to upload pictures from my camera to my iPhone wirelessly.
It allows me to use better pictures than I can get with my iPhone. After a few false starts, I think I have it figured out and operating correctly. Yes, we're too high tech for words around here. It's one of the pitfalls of living with an engineer...and since this was my bright idea, I suppose that means the pitfalls are contagious. Beware. I'm considering sewing my mouth shut and just communicating wirelessly from now on. Sadly, that won't save you from the prattle that is continually posted here. For that, you will have to close your eyes. It would help with my weight loss efforts, however. (Note to self: Consider thread options carefully.)
If I don't post again between now and then, I'll see you right back here on Monday. By then, I should be bursting at the seams with stuff to tell you.

What a wonderful reveal! Have a great weekend !!
Cute little quilt. Lucky partner. More techno stuff? Hard to keep up with it all. I'm still stuck 10 years back. Have a fun weekend.
Wonderful quilts, I love the cat quilt the best though since I'm a cat person! You do such beautiful work.
The June DQ came out great!
I just found a yummy food blogger: Averie Cooks - I thought of you while I was reading. I've already pinned a few of her recipes that will have me digging out my food processor to make gifts I think.
Have fun this weekend!
Very cute doll quilt! Enjoy your beach weekend.
As usual, your quilt turned out adorable...like Smitty & Gracie.
That's a pretty neat little picture card...now if only I had a phone that would do something other than make calls & take pictures...call me old school, if ya will! :)
Have a lot of fun on your adventure, and drive safe!
I love the stitchery on the cover of that book. Dogs and sewing machines and quilts, what's not to love? I saw lots of cute cat fabrics (I bought some of the mouse fabric from the line) at the new quilt store I visited, and thought of you and Smitty and Gracie. Meow!
