You're officially another month closer to the grave, but that's okay because it's time to show off your starts for the month of May. Everyone who links up today will be entered to win the May flower needle nanny.
If you don't know what a NewFO is, and you've never heard of the NewFO Challenge, then you seriously are missing out on the easiest challenge going on in Blogland. All of the fun and none of the work! You don't have to finish a darned thing! All you need to do is start something new, and you're in! Click right here to read all about it.
So here's what's new at the Three Cats Ranch during the month of May. Of course, I made a doll quilt for the monthly Doll Quilt Swap.
I was able to find these watermelon seed embellishments to finish it off.
Also, I started the NewFO project I planned to start at the beginning of the year, this Quiltmaker's Garden published in Quiltmaker magazine last year.
So far, I have all the cutting done, and I started piecing together the blocks for the first of five parts.
This is one of the petunia blocks. And since I'm writing this post a day early, I'm hoping I'll have more blocks to show you by the end of the day.
As for my previous NewFO projects, I'm happy to say that I finished the quilt top for the Love Me, Love My Cat quilt which was the NewFO project I started in June, 2012. My goal is to have this quilted and bound by the end of next month.
So that's it for me this month. Now, I'm ready to see what's new at your end. Here are my easy-to-follow, friendly guidelines.
1. Please link-up with your newly started projects from May, finished or not. If you feel like it, show us the progress you've made on any other previously posted NewFO projects.
2. Please link back to this post from your blog. Also, please link to your blog post, not your blog. To do that, just click on the title of your post to isolate it from the rest of your blog. Then copy the URL and use that to link up. Links to entire blogs will be edited or deleted entirely. Also, this is not a place to advertise your Etsy shop or some other event. To be clear, you may include references to other events in your post, but there should be something related to your NewFO's as well. Cats, dogs, birds, fish, alligators, dinosaurs, rats, hamsters, children, and other pets are always welcome. Links provided for the sole purpose of promoting other events or shopping experiences will be deleted without apology. (Sorry, but some folks can't seem to resist crashing the party.)
3. Don't have a blog? Upload an image to this FlickR group and link to that. If you have questions about how to do that or about how to link up, please email me. If you're having trouble posting your image, email it as an attachment, and I will be happy to post it for you. Also know that it takes a bit for your thumbnail to appear, so don't despair. It will appear eventually. You might need to "refresh".
4. Obviously, I need some way to contact you no matter how you link up. No email address and no other way to contact you equals no entry in the giveaway. Email me separately if you need to.
This giveaway ends one week from today. Winner of the needle nanny will be announced on Saturday, June 8, 2013! We will ship anywhere in the universe, so international and interplanetary participants are always welcome!

Love that kittie quilt!
If I don't go to the movies tomorrow, I might actually start something to take a picture of!
You're off to a great start with the petunia blocks. :D
Your doll quilt is very cute, love all those bright reds. I hope the going is easier with the next few blocks on the Quiltmaker's Garden project. There's not much worse than poorly written instructions.
Thanks for hosting the NewFO Challenge, it's been very motivating. Though now that I'm up to 10 started, but not finished projects, I may need to scale back a bit.
You have such neat projects! Absolutely love your watermelon. ~Jeanne
my mom would love the watermelon table runner. Nothing says summer quite like watermelon.
The comment you made about being a month closer to the grave reminded me of a comment my 6 year old grandson made yesterday. He asked me If I wanted to live the rest of my life. Of couese I told him yes
Sarcastic tone here: Really?, "another month closer to the grave"? Are you thinking too much about next year? We are young, we are alive, then there's more to the song but I'm too old to remember it :)
Love the quilts.
I am linking to my NewFO that will be not a real quilt after all. I got sidetracked. LOL. Too many quilts in my head to think about being closer to the grave Barbara. Thanks for the Link-up. I usually combine it with my UFO end of month report but after reading this post thought that might be a conflicting thing.
Your Petunia Block looks perfect, and the others should be a breeze now that you have it all figured:-) Thanks for hosting us!
Love the seeds on the watermelon! The new Quiltmaker project looks gorgeous. Looks like a lot of work, too! That's going to be incredible.
So excited to see your Love Me...My Cat quilt finished! And you are setting yourself a nice goal of finishing it soon :*) I'm glad you picked out a nice needle nanny for me to win this month *tongue in cheek* - I really loved the kitty one, but flowers are also pretty wonderful :*D
Actually the post following the one I linked is also a NewFO. Love your watermelon piece.
I'm glad you figured out the problem with the new block. It looks great. I think I want some watermelon now.
Oh, the red/white quilt looks great!
I also think the garden quilt will be pretty.
Have a nice weekend!
I linked up for the first time today. Have wanted to for a long while, just got other things in my way. now to go take a look around!
that watermelon is just too too cute! hmmm I wonder if I have and red strips laying around....
I'm lovin' that garden quilt. I hope the instructions get better as it goes for you. It will be a bright and happy quilt to have around next winter. Not that any of us is ready to even begin to think about next winter....
The Quiltmaker's Garden really got my attention, but I thought it would probably be a little much for me since I'm still a beginner. However, I really like the Petunia Block and might do something with that. You picked some great fabrics for it! The think I'm really in love with is your Watermelon! You've got some of the cutest fabrics ever in there!
The Quiltmaker's Garden quilt looks really pretty! I love pinwheels and all the flowers at the bottom are so sweet :) I've linked up my latest EPP project, lots of bright summery colours, I'm loving it so far!
Barb, I really like your red and white quilt. I need to start a 2 color quilt! You can see by my new May FO that I'm not making much progress on my new starts, but am looking forward to what I'll "start" in June. So many possibilities, so little time. lol
My recent finish was my first attempt at reverse applique. I learned that I don't really care for the raw edge finish but I might try needle-turn reverse applique. I did some "drawing" with thread on this wall-hanging and liked that--I don't consider myself to be at all good at drawing, so it took some bravery on my part to try it!
