Here is what the finished quilt will look like:
And here are the strips I cut yesterday.
While it should be obvious from looking at the picture, I still didn't realize just how much piecing is involved in this quilt. It's going to take me a while. Also, I was a little disappointed with the instructions Quiltmaker provided. They leave a lot for the quilter to figure out. I think I have it worked out, but don't be surprised if this quilt involves a lot of four-letter words as I get going on it. Also, I realized that I still don't have the right blues or greens. I'm going to have to make another trip to the fabric store. Darn. (Translation: Whoo! Hoo!)
And don't forget. The linky party for the May NewFO Challenge goes live on Friday! (Can you believe we are just a few days away from the end of the month?!?)
Everyone who links up will be entered for a chance to win the May flower needle nanny:
Do you think my kitties missed their morning lap time?
What I really need are a few more cats. And Smitty missed his nip fixes.
[Snorfle, snuff, sniff] Mmmmmmmmmmmm. Nip.
Yesterday the most exciting thing happened in Smitty's life. We were feeding the birds, and when we took the lid off the bin where the bird seed is stored...you know, the one that the squirrels chewed a hole in last year...we found a squirrel inside! And Smitty was right there! And the squirrel looked and Smitty, and Smitty looked at the squirrel, and THE CHASE WAS ON! I've never heard such a scrambling of feet and I've never seen two animals vanish so fast! Whoa!
He didn't catch the squirrel, but it wasn't for lack of trying. He's obviously a cat outstanding in his field!
Hardy Har! That was a knee slapper!
So today, after I think of a few more bad jokes, I'm going to do some embroidery. My embroidery has suffered mightily over the past week. Lately, it's been in last place on my list of things to do. Today, it moves closer to the top. And, I'll get on with starting the piecing for the Quiltmaker's Garden quilt. I can work with the other colors until I can get to the quilt shop to supplement my stash of blues and greens.
But first, I'm going to stop here and write a blog post about the quilt shop I visited in Spokane. It was a good one!
Dinner is in the crockpot, and it's going to be a good day. I hope yours is a good one too.

Just cutting out the May NewFO!! Had to laugh at that one. My furries have not asked for the 'nip in a can' as there is so much fresh outside for a good fix.
You have my total sympathy for not having the right blues/greens.
A(nother) trip to the fabric store? Argh! Sometimes you just gotta do it. Hang in there. Be strong. :)
Oh, can I come, too?
Yeah such a hardship to have to go fabric shopping again! Love my Smitty fix! Needed that smile.
I admired that pattern also, anxious to see what you do with it. It is a must to have lots of blues and greens for that project hehehe.
Smitty is just way too cute! Bet that squirrel will think twice before invading Smitty's territory again.
I remember that pattern in Quiltmaker's Magazine. It's definitely going to be a beauty.
Glad you got a day to spend some time just enjoying some stitching.
I think the kitties did miss you and are trying to make sure you stay put for a while!
Nan
Oh such trials and tribulations having to visit a quilt shop for more fabric. Since you visited three on your trip and you're going to visit locally I am now feeling like I'm deprived so I'm off for a quilt shop fix tomorrow. Great photos of Smitty and Gracie.
I always suspected that you were a stripper.....
