How I Spent my Saturday Morning (with a little help from my friends)

This morning I set out to hand sew the binding onto the Line Dancing quilt.  Right away, I realized I had a problem.

Things seemed a little lumpy and jumpy.

Peek-A-Boo!!!

It's a good thing he's so darned cute.

It wasn't easy, but I managed to get that accomplished, and then went downstairs to finish up with the embellishing.  I used a glue gun to glue the clothespins to the clothesline.  That was a new technique to me.  My glue gun has been hanging out in my sewing room unopened for at least a year or two.  I've never used it before.  I had to read the instructions about how to do it, and then I had to practice a little so that I didn't end up with great globs of glue everywhere.  (Awesome alliteration.)  Also, I had a little problem with the glue "hairing" for lack of a better word, but even that ceased to be a problem after a couple of tries.  It was easier than I thought it would be, and it worked really well for this application.

Okay, those babies are stuck down.

And since this technique is new to me, I'll be linking up to:

I did a little more embellishing of the clothes too.  I added a hot fix crystal to the red brassiere.  Looks like it's straight out of the Victoria's Secret catalog.  Don't you agree?

Then I used hot fix nailheads to add buttons and rivets to the overalls.

And I added a row of hot fix nailheads to the shirt as buttons.

Then I used these sort of opalescent nailheads as buttons on the dress, and one as a fastener for the belt.

Here's where I momentarily considered gluing myself to death with the glue gun.  In the process of pressing this hot fix fastener onto the belt of the skirt below, I managed to melt the twine I'm using for the clothesline.  Man, I hate it when I do something like that.  So I just put the clothespin on a little crooked to cover it.  Rats.  You wouldn't have noticed, would you?

And then it was finished!  Here.  Let me take a picture of the whole thing.

Excuse me, Photobomber.  Could you move over please?  Can you see I'm trying to take a picture here?

A little more to the left please?  Oh forget it.  We'll just go upstairs and use the table.  (The floor sort of is his domain.  What was I thinking?)

All done!  And here's the back.

And now it's taken its rightful place in my laundry room.  See the wallpaper there on the left side?

And finally, my new pedometer and I are getting along just fine now.  While walking with Sue yesterday, I managed to set a new world record personal best for the number of steps taken in a single day.  Yay me!

And since it's after noon, and I'm still in my PJ's, it's probably time to do something else, don't you think?  What about you?  Are you dressed yet on this Saturday morning, er, afternoon?

Ah, lumpy, bumby, wiggly, wormy - been there. Too cute! Love how 'Laundry Day' turned out - great finish. And I have been out of PJs since 5am - tackling a scrap box.

Smitty is just too cute! Love how your Line Dancing turned out. You put a lot of fun into it with all those embellishments.

I spent Saturday morning doing our taxes. Now I'm done and my reward is that I get to sew!

Too cute! I think this might be my favorite quilt around right now. Did you design it yourself?

I set a new record yesterday myself. I walked about 400 steps...giggle....and it was outside.

Super cute wallhanging! I am dressed but not cuz I want to be. My dang dogs woke up at 6 AM wanting to play/eat/stretch/cuddle whatever and my hubs is out of town instead of doing his home duties soooooo. Still haven't made it to the sewing room yet I just feel so sluggish - I need a nap!

I love this wallhanging, the embellishments are gorgious. You did make me smile, I soooo have been there, in my enthoudiasm I too tend to make those kind of 'mistakes' You found the perfect solution.
Ah, let Smitty be in the picture, your stories make him feel like I know him. Give him a Dutch kitty- cuddle from me :-))

Yep, I'm in my pj's, my right eye on TV( creepy movie about vampiers), my left on the laptop.
It's almost 11 pm and I love sitting in bed 'enjoying' my self like this LOL.
Have a nice weekend,
Dea

You did a great job with the extra touches. Even though you had so much extra help.

I love the embellishments! Hot glue can burn and those hairs are a problem. I usually wait till it is cool and then take care of them. No quilt is complete with our kitty approval!

I love your quilt! I also like, your beautiful cat that always wants to participate to the pictures you take, I have a cat at home that has the same habit as yours, they are beautiful when they come to examine our own creations. Back to topic, your quilt is adorable, I like the detail that you have given with the addition of the clothespin!!!Thanks for sharing with us your projects and give us inspiration!

Glad you got it up on the wall quickly; Smitty might have decided to see if those clothes pegs could be removed! LOL
It's absolutely lovely and I really admire you for all the little embellishments which, of course, make such a big difference!

So glad I'm not the only one with cats on my quilts or in my pictures! Great piece of work. Is it me, or are there a lot of bras on this?

great post, love your photobomber, but your laundry room quilt really steals the show - fabulous! Dropping by from 'New To Me' and yes I'm frequently still in my pjs at lunchtime because I'm sewing or reading blogs ;)
