I started my December, NewFO...just under the wire, because the linky party goes up on Monday. Don't forget! This month is the last of the quilt pins, and everyone linking up will have a chance at this little pin.
And this is my December NewFO. It's a quilt from the Spring, 2010, issue of Quilting & Embroidery magazine. The original pattern is called "Summer Flutter" and it looks like this.
You can see that the birds on the pattern fabric are hummingbirds. But when I saw the pattern the first time, I decided it was a perfect opportunity for me to use this swallow fabric I've had for quite a while. I'm calling my quilt "True Hope" for a quote by Shakespeare that I've always loved: "True hope is swift and flies with swallow's wings." Today I only did my cutting, and here are my fabrics.
And I'm almost finished with the Love Me, Love My Cat embroidery block I'm working on. So I took the opportunity to make up the next block for the Vintage Miniature Sewing Machine quilt. Here's the embroidery transfer:
The website I've used in the past to find photographs of these little machines has failed me, and so I can't show you an actual image of this one. I'll have to spend some time looking and see if I can find one somewhere.
Finally, I completed the last of the 12 blocks for the Hello Sun BOM. With this one finished, I'm ready to complete the quilt. These blocks have been so much fun to work on, I'm almost sorry to be finished with all of them.
The deer's nose is supposed to be black, but I decided that in December, this must be Rudolph.
I'll be linking this post to:
How did your Friday go?

THat is a cute quilt!
Rudolph! So cute! I'm trying to remember if I did anything NewFOish in December ... I guess my doll swap quilt for this month counts! Whew! :)
My start for the month is Iris's window coverings that i am creating with Log Cabin blocks in all the colors I have on my hanging rack. I cannot wait to see them hanging in her windows. Her home is on my way home from almost everywhere and so I get to look at her place all the time.
Oooh, love your NewFO project! With those colors it's going to be a very dramatic project.
Love your December Hello Sun Block. The red nose is perfect.
I started my December NewFO. It wasn't on the list (well at least not officially). I've had fabric set aside for a QOV, but didn't have a pattern I liked. Fixed that problem during yesterday's trip to the quilt shop. I hope to have something to actually show on Monday!
LOVE the fabrics for your Dec. NewFO project...my favorite color combo!
The NewFO is going to look terrific - great color pallette.
It's great that you made your deer into Rudolf! What fun!
I found an image of a Little Dorrit machine here: http://www.dincum.com/library/libraryimages/lib_starley_littledorrit.jpg
I agree with the little red nose, did you applique that tiny piece?
That quilt is going to be stunning! Love this month's machine! Absolutely love Rudolph :-)

The 'swallow' fabric (and accompanying fabric) is so lovely. Never thought about that color combo for myself but lately I've seen it done in so many different venues. Yours is going to be a wonderful finish1 Happy New Year!!!! Blessings, D
You always inspire me, but now I have a new quote that I love, too! You have no idea how I needed that. Thank you my friend!
