Winged Dreams Finished!

This is one of the quilts in my line-up-to-be-finished group.  I have finished a lot of tops, but still have various things to finish on them.  I need to sew buttons and bind one, quilt and bind a couple, simply bind a few.  Somehow it's always easy to get them to the flimsy stage, and then I often "forget" to finish them.  This one was rescued from the PIGS sty.  Currently I have three PIGS (Projects in Grocery Sacks), and I'll soon have two more.  I've committed to finishing one per month.  Problem is, I gain a new one every time I finish an old one.  Oh well.  For now I'm celebrating this finish.

I call this quilt Winged Dreams.  It's a good name, and it just happens to be the name given to the pattern and the fabric line from whence it came.

This quilt is made from scraps in my stash.  I used the red ranunculus fabric to make a quilt for myself some time back.  The green is from a quilt I made for Erik.  The other fabrics were some remnants I picked up at various times.  When I saw the "Winged Dreams" pattern on the Clothworks Textiles website, I decided to use my scraps to make their pattern.  This one will go to my friend Sue for her September birthday.

I like the butterfly and daisy quilt design my quilter, Nancy, did with this.  She also did something interesting and different with the batting when she quilted it.  She bunched it up somehow, which made the quilt soft and puffy.

I didn't have quite enough of the ranunculus, and so I made a pieced back for it.

Interestingly, I purchased the ranunculus fabrics and the border/binding fabric at different times, but they happen to be a part of the same Winged Dreams fabric line.  Clearly, something about the line caught my eye.

Go Whoop it Up at the linky party going on today.  And guess what?  There's a giveaway!

I wish I were as productive as you are Barbara. To vow to complete a quilt every month and also make another every month. That is just great in my book. I finally sewed the binding a a quilt that was "almost finished" yesterday. I have one more in the same condition and then I am ready to start a new one. If only I could be half as productive as you are.

PIGS had me LOL. Great finish.

Congrats on the finish! It turned out beautifully.

It is easy to get to the top stage, much harder to get them the rest of the way!

Interestingly normally big florals are among my least favorites but this particular print has really made an impression. Wonder if it is the amazing work you have put into the piece-surely the fabric cannot stand alone. You have showcased it here magnificently.

Lucky Sue. :D Barbara, this is really neat! The back is as gorgeous as the front, so she's getting a two-for-one. She'll love it. Added Whoop for using up stash pieces.

Great quilt, perfect for using those beautiful floral prints. My daughter gives me her Victoria Secret bags and I use them to hold my unfinished projects, seeing them lined up makes me feel like I have a much more glamorous side, instead of having a lot to finish. Now I have to find a cute acronym for them, darn you.

Oh, wow Girl! That came together so beautifully! The quilting design is perfect and I adore your pieced backing. I have got to include more of those instead of fretting when I don't have enough. Sue will LOVE it and yay for another gorgeous finish!
