Today I finished the top for the Bow Tie Bonanza quilt. These are all the blocks I received for my month as a part of the We Bee Learning Block Bee. At the last minute, I decided to do something completely different with the borders. This is what I came up with.
Initially, I thought I would just use a white border, but then Rita, who blogs at Sunset Quilting was kind enough to send me some "mock ups" from EQ showing me how the blocks would look with different colors of borders. I really liked how the polka dot border looked best, even though using it in the border meant that I might not have enough for the back. I finally decided that I could use the same solid orange to piece the back together if I needed to . . . and it looks like I'll need to. I think I'll like the look of the pieced back better anyway.
Then because I wanted to bring out more of the orange, I decided to use the orange cornerstones in the border. I'll use the same orange for the binding. All-in-all, I'm pretty happy with how this is turning out. It's a good lap-sized quilt.

Very pretty!! This is such a bright and happy quilt!! :-)
Love it!! The small inner border is just right for adding the polka dots. And I love the addition of the orange cornerstones, especially with orange binding. What a fun quilt!!!
This is a great quilt top!
How do you manage so many irons in the fire?
It's so bright & fun! Great job on the layout :D
Very fun quilt. The orange just makes it all pop.
Very nice indeed. I didn't use EQ though. Just PS (PhotoShop).
another lovely quilt and I love this one
This is really pretty with the orange and "po-ke" dots.
LOVE IT!!! Now i better get my butt in gear and put mine together before you have this all quilted...lol
Those blocks look darling all pieced together! Good choice with the border and that orange is going to bring it all together so beautifully! I never thought of myself as an orange person, but I certainly am drawn to it a lot lately!
