July NewFO Linky Party and Giveaway

Is it my imagination or did the month of July fly by in a flash?  Given that it started out with a bang on Independence Day, I don't suppose the flash should surprise me.  In any case, it's time to link up with your July NewFO projects.  Remember . . . no finishes are required.  In fact, there are no requirements of any kind except that it needs to be a new project started during the month of July.  Even small projects like mug rugs and potholders qualify.  So be bold!  Link up!  Here's what I started in July:

The Doors of Ireland quilt:

And the White Birches quilt from the pattern featured in the October, 2010, issue of Quilter's World.  I was able to do all the cutting,

and then I made the first two of twelve blocks.

These blocks are not difficult to make, but the cutting is a bit complicated.  Because of the way they are pieced, chain-piecing would be difficult to do.  Each one will need to be made one at a time, and that makes it a little bit slow-going.  That's okay.  I'm never in any hurry when I'm sewing.
