Leftover Images from Ireland: Part Ten

The next set of images was taken in Galway, where the quilt show was held.  The city was all decked out to welcome us.

As I've said before, I took some pictures just because I liked the signs . . . or just because I liked the Irish names on the signs.

Here's what we saw in the window of this shop.  Clearly, Father's Day is an international day to celebrate fathers.  But the Irish were pretty whipped up about the impending soccer match against Ukraine(?).  When Ireland lost the match, the country fell into a day of mourning.

We attended the part of the quilt show that was held at the University the first day.  Then, on the second day, we called a cab to take us to Galway Cathedral and St. Nicholas Church to see a few more exhibits.  There was a Christmas exhibit at St. Nicholas Church.  This quilt of Father Christmas won the Christmas exhibit.  It's easy to see why.

I'll betcha didn't know Father Christmas played the bagpipes.

I liked the details in this nativity too.

We had a coupon for this store, and so we went inside.  I loved how it looked from the outside too.

You really just wanted to see him again, didn't you?

He was a part of the open air market we visited, but he wasn't for sale.  I asked.  Here are a few more goodies we saw there.

Tomorrow I'll show you a few more images from St. Keven's Monastic Settlement and the Avoca Woollen Mills.

For today, I'm off to get my monthly pedicure.  Then, I have to go to the grocery store, which seems like an awful waste of my pedicure, doesn't it?  Hopefully, I'll have some time when I get home to finish sewing together the blocks for the Daisies & Dots quilt, which has been neglected over the past couple of months.  I'm getting caught up on it now.

Barbara, you may have shared this already, but what made you decide to go to the Quilt show in Ireland?? How long in advance did you make your arrangements. Did you stay with people you knew or in a hotel?

Too bad you can't get one of those banners, what a keepsake! The building is so unusual and the goodies in the open air market- wow, how did you not eat one of everything!

Hmmmm...wonder what hubby would have to say if you'd managed to stuff Beefcake into your luggage?

That little store, Treasure Chest, which probably isn't so little, looks just like a wedding cake, doesn't it? I bet there were lots of Treasures inside!!

Lots of pretty & interesting quilts here too! Thanks for sharing!

I hope you're wearing sandals to the grocery store, then it's not a waste. Grocery shopping is a huge social event here.
Father Christmas and the first nativity are amazing and no I had no idea that he played the bagpipes.
Thanks for the picture of my favorite Irish hunk, it made me laugh to see him again.

And I'm thinking to myself, "I didn't know Father Christmas was a piper"...and there you wrote pretty much the same thing! GREAT minds!!!
It would have been cool if you could have one of those banners - to make a quilt out of it, yes?
