Worried

George is spending the night in the kitty hospital tonight.  He's been doing better since I wrote about him last time.  His skin is looking 90% better.  Today we had beautiful weather here.  A healthy George will spend most of his time outside on a nice day.  He slept most of the morning and didn't go outside until around 2:00.  I noticed that he seemed unsteady on his feet . . . like a little old person.  He seemed to be walking as if in pain, but when he paused on all fours, he rocked back and forth.

I encouraged him to walk toward me, trying to decide what was going on with him.  He didn't really want to walk around much and instead, went to his usual hidy hole under some juniper bushes.  I checked on him again about an hour later and he was vomiting.  When I called his name, he took off under the junipers, as if he didn't want me to bother him.

Managing to get around to the other side of him where I could see his face, I noticed that he was experiencing
nystagmus, which is a back and forth movement of the eyes, indicating dizziness.  He was also bobbing his head back and forth.  That freaked me out and I called the vet immediately.

She was able to see him right away after I called.  She's taken a look at his ears, since an ear infection would explain everything.  (The vomiting can be explained by the dizziness.)  His ears are clear, and so she's keeping him overnight to fast him and then draw some blood tomorrow.  We'll know something, hopefully, by tomorrow afternoon.

There's a lot more I could say about his health history, but I'll just leave it at that.  We'll know more tomorrow. I've worried that we might not have George much longer because he has some pretty serious health problems.  We've done as much as we can to keep him as long as we can, but at his age, anything could happen.  We'll just have to wait and see what his blood work shows and hope it's something that can be treated.

Praying for sweet Mr. George! I don't want to think about no more posts with him accompanying you on jaunts into the great outdoors or overseeing your quilting output :(

Praying for Sweet George!! Our pets are so precious to us-- it's really hard when they are not feeling well... and scary because they can't tell us how they're feeling... I hope George will make a quick recovery and get to come back home soon...

I discovered the wonder of cats over 30 years ago after about that many years disliking them....we who love cats know that the people who say they don't like them...simply don't know them....I know how you are feeling about sweet Mr. George and pray that he will come home soon and that you can have his company for a little while longer........

I would be in a complete panicked mess if one of my fur babies had that happen! Well wishes for George and peace to you!

I sure hope the vet finds out what is wrong with George and fixes him soon! He reminds me so much of our Charlie; they have a lot of the same mannerisms. Charlie and Tabby go to see their vet tomorrow for their annual wellness checks. Hoping for the best for George. I know what it's like to worry about our fur babies.
