Recipe Test: Bourbon Banana Bread

This morning I was puttering around in the kitchen, unloading the dishwasher, reloading the dishwasher, throwing out some old flowers, making up the grocery list . . . and I started thinking there was no reason I couldn't try out this recipe while I did all that.  As it turns out, the timing was just about right.  It only took me a few minutes to mix it up, and then while it was baking (and making the room smell heavenly, I might add), I finished up my little puttering chores.

Here's how it looked when it came out of the oven:

Although the recipe didn't say what to do next, I let mine cool ten minutes in the pan, and then took it out to cool on a rack.  Here's how it looked after I took it out of the pan.

Here's how it looked approximately seven seconds later.  (What's that?  I'm supposed to let it cool before cutting into it?  You're kidding, right?)

Here's how it looked approximately two minutes later.

One word:  Yum.

It has mini chocolate chips and pecans and bananas and bourbon.  How can you miss?  Actually, the bourbon is barely noticeable.  There was just a hint, and so even if you're not a bourbon drinker (which I definitely am not--gack), you'll still appreciate the richness it adds to the flavor.  Not into alcohol at all?  I would suggest substituting apple juice.

You can find the recipe here, at My Baking Addiction.  I notice at the end of the recipe it suggests for "killer flavor" you can wait 24 hours before cutting into it.  And I say again:  You're kidding, right?

Yumm. I'll have to give this a try. Thank you.

Not sure why, but the font on your blog posts is really difficult to read.

I am most passionate about banana bread.
Will be trying this one very soon. And you are right. One should never wait that long to cut it.

It certainly looks yummy. I may not be an alcohol drinker, but I have no problem cooking with it. I think I'd try something other than bourbon myself :) can't even get near the smell of any kind of whiskey without gagging. Hmmm, maybe Kahlua would be nice.

Wait 24 hours? Yeah, right!

If I make it to the grocery store soon, I want to make a recipe I saw on 'Trisha's Southern Kitchen' called "Sweet and Saltines". She said that her family refers to it as "Crack", because it's so addictive! LOL (http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/sweet-and-saltines-recipe/index.html)
