The Cheshire Cat has Nothing on Me

My tooth is back!  If you've been following this journey (and there's no reason why you would want to), then you know I've been missing a tooth since way back when I wrote this on June 1, 2011.  It's so good to have all my choppers back where they belong.  I'd show you, but it's a big molar and well, I doubt you want to see it.  Just know that I look a LOT like the Cheshire Cat, except that I'm a darker shade of purple.

I keep telling Mike that he should give me more respect because I'm now worth about $5,000 more than I was a year ago.  (If only.)  Honestly, getting an implant is quite a process . . . an expensive process.  And, where my mouth is concerned, some assembly was required.  (I think Mike was hoping for a buckle or a zipper or something.)  When I left the specialist dentist (oral and maxillofacial dentistry), he gave me a bag of "parts" and instructed me to take them with me when I saw my regular dentist for the final two portions of the whole procedure.  Somehow it amused me that I should come with parts.    In any case, my tongue is quite beside itself now that there is no large gap in which to play.  It'll have to find something else to do.  (I was going to give you some sort of tongue image here, but the ones I found were seriously gross.)

So, okay.  Enough of that.  With all of that excitement, I had no time for sewing yesterday.  Still, I like to start each day with a little hand-sewing.  And then, since I didn't get to machine sew, I ended the day with hand-sewing too.  I finished the next Mr. Bear block.

I still need to add the borders, and then this one will be finished.  There are just two more blocks to embroider and then I'll be ready to finish the whole quilt!

Since I haven't traced the embroidery motif onto the next Promises & Borders block, I didn't have any hand-sewing to do this morning.  That meant I did a little more work on the Mother Goose blocks.  If you haven't been following along about the Mother Goose quilt, you can read more about it here.  I gave Polly some new feet, which made it much easier for her to put the kettle on.

Mother Hubbard got a new cane and some new shoes, which makes it much easier for her to get her poor dog a bone.  The dog for his part is feeling pretty smart about his new eyes and nose.

And Simple Simon got a black line under his bucket.

So as I looked at this one, I didn't get the whole fishing in a bucket thing.  Because didn't Simple Simon meet a pieman or something?  What did that have to do with fishing in a bucket?  So I looked it up and found the whole rhyme.

Simple Simon met a pieman going to the fair;
Said Simple Simon to the pieman "Let me taste your ware"
Said the pieman to Simple Simon "Show me first your penny"
Said Simple Simon to the pieman "Sir, I have not any!"
Simple Simon went a-fishing for to catch a whale;
All the water he had got was in his mother's pail.
Simple Simon went to look if plums grew on a thistle;
He pricked his fingers very much which made poor Simon whistle.
He went for water in a sieve but soon it all fell through;
And now poor Simple Simon bids you all "Adieu."

Consider this your daily dose of useless information.  You're welcome.

There are just three more Mother Goose blocks to repair, and then I'll be ready to start sewing them into a quilt.  For the rest of the day, however, I'm going to finish quilting the castle doll quilt, and then I'll move onto more blocks, or else start my March NewFO project.  I love a day like this.

I would love to pick your brain about the implant, since it looks like I've got one in my near future.

I am familiar with what a long, arduous, and *costly* experience it is!! So now you've got the million dollar smile!! The Simple Simon rhyme was always one of my favorites as a child -- thanks for recalling it in its entirety for me!! Have fun stitching around today! :)

Lovely stitcheries - funny how Nursery Rhymes were either - dunce or scarey. I am playing NewFo today.

Your teeth look wonderful. Those are really yours in the cat picture, right? Your bear and nursery rhyme blocks look great, too.

Glad to hear that you're now grinning ear to ear and that the hole in your head is now sporting a shiny new tooth. Did you get gold? LOL. If you had gotten it a few years ago, your value would have increased greatly, but we all know that you're already priceless. :) I'm excited to see your nursery rhyme blocks put together.
