Sunshine on My Shoulders Back from the Quilter

It's not fit for cat nor beast outside today.  It's pouring rain, and it's very dark.  It would be nice to have a little sunshine, but the only brightness I'll be seeing today is in this quilt fresh back from my new quilter, Nancy.  Because of the colors and the name of this quilt, I asked Nancy to put some sort of Aztec sun design on it.  She came up with a geometric design that incorporates the sun.

It was very difficult to photograph the colors and have the quilting show up at all.  I requested a red/orange/yellow variegated thread, which I love, but it doesn't photograph well when I'm required to use flash.  (If I were to wait for a sunny day to do this outside, I might wait literally for months.)  I'm hoping you'll be able to see the quilting in these images, although I had to mess with the colors, brightness, and contrast quite a bit to make it visible.

The image above gives you a better view of the geometric shapes, which blend well with the many different fabrics.

This pattern is Judy Laquidara's Peaches & Dreams quilt, and the pattern is available on her website.

Many of the fabrics used in this quilt were purchased while we were traveling in the southwest last winter.  It's amazing the difference a year can make.  Last year at this time, we were basking in the warmth of southern California and Arizona.  Today's weather is a far cry from that.

I still need to bind this quilt, and I'm using a yellow and orange stripe fabric that was used elsewhere on the top.  I'll take a picture of the whole quilt once it's bound.  Hopefully, the weather will improve by then so that I can take it outside and show off it's true colors.

Ooh, I can see the quilting on that third picture...gorgeous! I think I spotted the stripey fabric, too. That is a stunning quilt; you should be so very proud of it! :)

The quilting is perfect for your sunny quilt. I like the use of the variegated thread. I look forward to seeing the entire quilt after you bind it :)
