My sewing room has been occupied. Has yours? So far this weekend, I've gotten quite a bit accomplished. The table runner for my cousin is finished and it'll be going into tomorrow's mail.
While I had big plans for the quilting on this, I chickened out and ended up doing just some straight lines. With this going to another quilter as a gift, I was worried about messing it up. And I don't have time to mess it up and then fix it too. So I took the safest path, and I'm not sorry. It's on its way to her and I can move on to other things. Before packaging it up, however, I made one of these Carol Doak framed cards to go along with it.
Here's a link to the CT Publishing Blog and the free pattern download that I used. I was very happy with how this turned out. This was the first time I tried making one of these. The card frames are rather expensive, but no more expensive than a card from a card shop, and I really like the home made touch.
So with that project complete, I turned my attention to my December UFO challenge, the Home is Where the Heart is quilt. I'm working on the October block, and I have the applique about half finished.
I'm a little unhappy that the witch's hat doesn't show up better against the dark background, but I can topstitch it in a steel gray to bring it out a little more. This has been the strangest kit. The fabrics they send are often completely inappropriate to the design. I would not purchase from this particular shop again. The blocks came out of order, sometimes six weeks apart, sometimes one week apart. It's no wonder I'm so far behind on it, but I can't blame the quilt shop for that, I guess. (Yes I can. I can do anything I want on my own blog.)
In addition, I've been finishing the binding on the SewHappyMe SewAlong bunting. I want to get this one finished some time this week so that I can hang it when we put up the tree. I have five finished, two more to go.
Finally, I finished a couple of other blocks. This is the third block for A Day in the Life of Mr. Bear quilt, along with blocks one and two.
Also, these blocks for the Blogger's BOM and the There and Back Again BOM. I can't say I'm very happy with the way these hobbit cloaks turned out, but there you go.
I'm not budging from my sewing room during this "Occupy" week, so I should have lots to show you when the linky party starts. I hope you're having fun with your own "Occupy" time.

You are doing beautiful work! I wish I could Lock myself in my Quilt room and participate as well, but I have to be homeschool mom and teach my son, make him do his homework, I'm sure he would be all over another week off, but the schedule just doesn't work that way.. darn it!!
Gorgeous runner....really like how it finished up. I would have taken that route, too! I have the pattern and most of the fabrics for Home/Heart, but have not yet started it. Not sure what I'm waiting for - I could always say I'm honing my applique skills and will start when I think I'm ready..... :)
Friday is my big Occupy Day. I can't wait, and not just because my huge term project will have been turned in. . . :D
You have been very productive. Love the table runner - I would have ended up doing the straight line quilting, too. I'm just not confident enough to try anything else on something that will be going to another home. Thanks for sharing all of your beauties.
You've really lived up to the "Occupy your sewing room" manta, haven't you?! Love that table runner, Barbara!! :)
I am seeing the 'Occupy' button popping up all over - so super your terrific idea is catching fire! You really have gotten a lot done - lovely table runner!
wow you sure have been a busy bee and got A LOT done. Can't wait to see what comes out of your sewing room next
Thanks for the link to the cute paper-pieced package. My guild holiday party is tomorrow night. I just might whip one up for the gift exchange (UFOs).

The table runner is beautiful and the card is lovely. You've been really busy. It seems you are making the best of the UFO, it looks cute, but I'd be frustrated too with poor selections and funky arrival times.
Hope your occupation continues to be productive. Wish I could join you during the day. I did get some time in this evening.
Hey! Congratulations!! I saw where your "Gracie" won the Voter's Choice GRAND PRIZE in the TQPM Kitty Contest!! :)
