I like going to buy the Chrsitmas tree, even more now when I take my daughter with me and decorate it. It's great to see her face when we switch off the lights and all the color lights on the tree show up!

Hello again! My favorite tradition is not something you might expect. One year, when our granddaughter was a toddler, we had a sudden snow/ice storm and it was on the day we were supposed to get Christmas photos with Santa. We are so far away from a mall that I knew we would never make it. I remembered seeing something in the local freebie paper about Santa coming to the Harley Davidson dealer over by the highway. I was hesitant but thought it was our only option. It was wonderful! Santa there is the BEST. The female workers were dressed as elves. There was a bake sale for charity and the store was decorated like the North Pole. Every year now we get her picture with Santa on a Harley. She is 7 now but I don't care if she is 27, we're still going to get the photo on the Harley! What fun!

Decorating Christmas cookies with anyone I can round up. Now that the kids are grown, I don't always have someone coming home, and it's a bummer decorating cookies alone, although I've done it. :)

The making of Christmas candy and other goodies is something I do every year, even if it is just for my family and gets put in the freezer and enjoyed for the next 6 months. I made some of the same things with my mom as a child and have continued through the years. I hope my kids carry on the tradition when I get too old to do it.

My favorite Christmas tradition is going to Church for the caroling and staying for midnight Mass. When my children were tiny, we went to an early Mass on Christmas Eve. As they got older they were the altar servers at midnight Mass. This year my daughter, who graduated from college in the spring, will be the Lector at midnight Mass.

My favorite holiday tradition is the Christmas cookie bake off. It started with daughter and nieces, and now involves grandchildren also. We make sugar cookie cut outs, make colored frostings and decorate with all the sprinkles and dots we can find. And make graham cracker gingerbread houses using frosting for glue. Even the dogs get into the act, and end up generously dusted with flour, which is quite evident on their black fur.
