Every year, we attempt to bake, construct, and decorate a gingerbread house from scratch. You would think that we would get better and be able to make the Taj Mahal by now. But, I think our little houses look worse every year! It is so funny and silly and good and I love it. We laugh the entire time! That's why it's my favorite!

because our kids are grown and most of them are at least 1500 miles away my husband and I found ourselves just knocking around the house a couple years ago...we decided to start a new tradition for ourselves...we spend Christmas day at the Rescue Mission helping with dinner for the homeless and spending time playing games and just hanging out with the families...just like we would with our own families.

I love the Christmas tree with all its decorations and lights. But the best of all is spending the day celebrating with my family with good food, laughter, and enjoying the day or days together. My son will be cooking and he has for the past couple days begun his cleaning before we arrive.

Joanie's Trendy Quilts said...

I love my Lhasa Apso named Cassie. I would be a cat lover except I am so allergic to them - well most of them. My youngest son has two cats that were stray ones that he found at the dealership. He named them Beamer and Mercedes. If you go to my gallery you will see a tie quilt I made for him with two cats that represent them. Growing up the boys had a Seal Siamese cat named Ty Tac. Ty is my oldest son and Tac is cat spelled backwards. Well that is my best cat stories to one who loves her cats.

Maria Harrits said...

Oh, those fabrics are beautiful! The best thing... dancing around the Christmas tree with my kids, singing and enjoying all the candlelights on the tree.

My fave tradition is decorating the tree--I take the job of unwrapping the ornaments from their boxes and telling the story behind each ornament (most have them!) as I hand them to my family to hang on the tree. It's a fun trip down memory lane. Thanks for the giveaway!
