Rolling on the River

It was one of the warmest days of our summer yesterday, and so we took the boat out on the Willamette River.  The water was surprisingly warm given how cool our summer has been.  The guys wasted no time donning their gay apparel and jumping in.  This is our friend Tim.

A few summers ago, Tim had never wake boarded.  Now he's doing it like a pro.

The water felt great, and as the first trip of the summer, it was especially inviting.

Mike is never happier than when he's out on the river.

After falling off the ladder the other day, his back has been complaining.  Nothing serious, but it does put something of a crimp in his style.  I think this might have been the moment when he remembered he's not a spring chicken any more.

He realized that the better part of valor was probably to give it a rest.

As for me, it's a waste of rope time for me to attempt wake boarding.  I'm much happier staying in the boat  manning the skier-in-the-water flag and the camera.  We're hoping to get out a few more times before the weather turns cool again.  Next time, I'm hoping the kids will be able to join us.

Great way to spend the day. I haven't done that since I was a kid.

That looks like so much fun! To me, just being out in the sun and on the water is enough...I'd be manning the camera, too! Hope the rest of your weekend is just as nice.

Gosh... I could never do that...!
When I was in Portland I went sailing on the Willamette with my sister and her friends. It was great fun! The same guy who owned the boat used to live in a floating house, but I can't remember exactly where it was, nor the river. That was my water experience in Portland!

Looks like fun. It's been years since I've been dragged (and I do mean dragged) behind a boat!

My last experience holding a ski rope came in the mid-seventies and I remember poking my thumb through my suit trying to pull it down and out of “thong-style”. If my math workes—that’s nearly forty years. Wow, wonder where those decades went !~!
