Design Wall Monday--August15, 2011

I'm so happy to say that I completed the last of the stitcheries on my Winter Wonderland quilt this week!  Here are the snow people riding a toboggan:

Also, I completed the three 9-inch Martha Washington stars.

There is another 12-inch Martha Washington star yet to be done, and then four 6-inch pinwheels like the center of this one and all of the component parts for this quilt will be complete!  I'm so excited to be getting ready to sew the whole thing together soon.  I have a busy week ahead, but I'm still hoping to get all the pieces finished for next week's design wall.

Finally, I finished the binding on my Dave's Not Here quilt, and also made a label for it.  I'll be giving it to our friend next weekend.

Here's the pieced back:

And here's the label I made for it:

It says "Friends are golden threads in the quilt of life."

I had a strip of batik fabric from a fat quarter bundle I bought a while back, and I used that to tie the whole thing up into a nice bundle.  I turned back the labeled corner so that it will be the first thing our friend sees when he receives his quilt.  I feel good about this one because I know he will get a big kick out of the fabric.

That's it for me this week.  For more design walls, visit:

I am so impressed that you finished your embroidery on this quilt. I finally finished the candy cane clothesline block and have moved on to the title block - what a lot of stitching.

I haven't made any stars yet but think I should get them started as I stitch along.

Congratulations!

Your embroidery blocks are great! I have that pattern in my very big "to do" pile. It will be so fun to see your top soon! Congratulations on the finish too! That is always exciting to finish a quilt and send it off to its new home.

Your Winter Wonderland is going to be beautiful. I look forward to seeing the completed top. And I love how you are packaging your friend's quilt. Of course, that is how I send mine so of course I think it is just the right way. ;)
