Design Wall Monday--July 25, 2011

This week was spent working on my "Dave's Not Here" quilt.  It's all finished except for the leaf border around the outside.

I'm pretty happy with the way this has turned out.  I think Mike's friend will like it.  I'm planning to use what I have left of the leaf fabric on the back, but I don't have enough.  I'm going to have to purchase some dark green to make a large enough back, and I'll separate the green from the leaf print with a narrow sashing of the brick red.  This was a fun quilt to work on.

The pattern is from the Moda Bakeshop website.  The pattern is Portrait Gallery.  It was a little like putting a puzzle together, but I was able to finish it in about one week's time.  It would be a good quilt for an intermediate quilter, I think, although a beginner could accomplish it if they had someone to ask for help if they needed it.

In addition, I've continued with the embroidery on my "Winter Wonderland" quilt.

I'm about one-third of the way finished with this one.

I have been so busy making a living, that haven't had much blog time...I did some catching up this morning....lovely photos for ferns, yummy pie, and your stitchery is ever so cute! My garden looks a lot like yours, but it is because of too much sun and heat...kinda the opposite of yours, I guess!

Ohh, I LOVE this quilt! I'm going to look up the pattern on the moda website! I've had the Winter Wonderland pattern for a couple of years and am slowly embroidering it but haven't done any in a while. Your work has inspired me to take it out again.

I don't usually like following a pattern but I believe that your quilt is inspiring me to try it, again. I can see so many ways to use it to show off some of my beautiful fabrics.

"Dave's Not Here" looks terrific! I like the way the rectangles float on the top of the, uh, plants. :D
