More Free Motion Quilting

Today I finished pebbling the remaining two frog blocks on my "Ribbit, Ribbit" quilt.  And I managed to finish three of the blue borders with the design Leah Day calls Kelp Forest.  It's turning out better than I anticipated.  (And it goes a lot faster than pebbling too!)

I'm using a blue variegated thread on the blue border and a green variegated thread in the bobbin.  I used the green variegated thread on my stitch in the ditch quilting too.  This is designed to make it difficult to see, so I've amped up the contrast on this image to make it more visible.  The blue fabric is a little more subtle than it appears here.  It's a little easier to see on the pieced back.

As before, it's not perfect, but it's not bad.  It's much better than I expected it to be, and I'm so happy with how it's going.  I need to finish one more of the blue borders, and then I'll start on the outer border.  And then I'll be ready to bind it!  So far, so good.

Impressive! I've never tried free motion quilting but it's on my short list of things to learn soon!!

When you FMQ.. do you go slow?? I havn't really gotten the hang of it. I tried it once, and I think maybe I went too fast, cuz it doesn't look good at all!
