Mid Valley Quilt Guild Show

I attended the Mid Valley Quilt Guild Show in Rickreall, Oregon.  It was a beautiful one-hour drive for me, and I was so glad I went.

I drove through several cloud bursts along the way, and I was glad I hadn't bothered getting my car washed first.  The flowers at the entrance to the building seemed to like the rain.

Theme for the show was Jewels of the Valley, and there were a lot of quilts with themes of things you might see in Oregon--flowers, waterfalls, farms, etc.

Of course, I loved the cat quilts the most.

Some were striking for their colors.

I liked this one for its Southwest theme.  It gave me some ideas about what I could do with some of the Southwest fabric I bought while we were traveling.

The free-motion quilting on this one was especially effective.

It reminded me of the petroglyphs we saw in New Mexico.

I loved the colors and the quilting on this one too.

There was a section of the show where the quilts followed the theme, "Let Me Tell You About My Girlfriend."  They were all so cute.  Here are a few of my favorites.

There was a lot to look at in this one.  It had some beautiful beadwork in it that doesn't show up well in this image.

This one was very striking, but in person, it was hard to look at.  The black and white striped material looked like it was moving, and it was hard to focus my eyes.

There were many, many more that I haven't shown you here.  I'd never been to this particular annual show before, and with an hour's drive, I worried that it wouldn't be worthwhile to go that far.  I was not disappointed.  Now I'm looking forward to next year's show!

Those are some beautiful quilts you posted. Our local quilt guild held their show this past weekend too but I didn't get to go since we'd already made plans to go camping at the coast. My friend went and posted some of the pictures on Facebook and they were beautiful also.

What a beautiful group of quilts! I didn't know about this show so will have to keep my eyes open for it next year.
