Design Wall Monday--April 18, 2011

I got quite a bit done this week.  I'm happy about finishing up a couple of UFO's that have been hanging over me like the Sword of Damocles.  I got the border put on my "Secret Garden" quilt.

It needs a back now, and it'll be ready to head off to my long arm quilter.

I completed a baby quilt top for a young woman I know who's expecting her first baby--a girl.  I don't even think she knows that I make quilts, and so this should come as a complete surprise to her.  (Those are my favorite quilts to make--the ones that are least expected by the recipient.)  This one still needs a back too.  (Lots of backs and bindings in my future!)

And I finished 2 of 18 of these paper-pieced tulips for some pillowcases I'm making to match another finished quilt.  I'm making them in the colors of the tulips in the quilt:  yellow, purple, blue, and pink.  They go together quickly, and so I'm hoping to have them all done soon.  Then I'll make the pillowcases.

So what did you accomplish this week?  To see more design walls, check out Judy's blog at the Patchwork Times.

What a perfect spring project! The sun is shining through my window right now and I'm looking forward to a little drier week.
Your tulips are great!

I'm going to have to make some of those tulip pillow cases, I love those blocks!

Your paper pieced tulips are bright and beautiful - will they go around the hem edge of the pillowcase?

I really like the first quilt, so spring/summer feeling. And, I too love to surprise people with a quilt, keeps me smiling all the while I am making it.
