Food and Family

Good morning, my friends. We've reached the end of a hectic week. It's going to be good to get back into more of a regular routine next week. We're getting our winter vaccines (flu and COVID) on Monday, and I'll get my pedicure on Thursday. Aside from that, it'll be mostly business as usual.

On today's agenda, we need to run a couple of errands in town, but here's the good news: The McRib is back!!!!! So, we'll get lunch at McDonald's. You might start getting the idea that McDonald's is our favorite restaurant. It isn't, but some of their offerings are worth the trip.

There was still a lot to do yesterday to get ready for dinner. I needed to marinate our steaks, and I needed to tidy up some and set the table. While I was doing that, the kitties were out enjoying a spot of morning sunshine. Their sunshine mornings are numbered at this time of year. The winter gloom will be here soon enough.

Happily, Smitty's parasite test came back negative. It was an expensive veterinary outing, but it seems the old man is in pretty good health for his age.

There was just a little bit of time for sewing in the late afternoon. The Storm at Sea block was finished.

I still needed to add the background pieces before I could do the applique.

And then I could add the Orca applique.

That left me with a few minutes to tidy up the sewing room. Now the machine is set up for top-stitching. For today, I want to get back to quilting the Cats in Pajamas, but I'm still hoping I'll have time to start on the top-stitching both the Orca and the Tree block.

When those are finished, all the blocks for this project will be complete.

Just now I'm going to get busy with my slow-stitching. It's going to be an easy-going day no matter how it all turns out. I hope you have an easy-going day planned for your weekend.
