Full Force Fall

Good morning, my friends. It was a busy day yesterday. During the presidential campaign, I was amused when Governor Josh Shapiro of Pennsylvania said, "My team is guided by three letters every single day: G-S-D." And, if you missed that, he spelled it out..."Getting sh*t done." When I can cross everything off a day's to-do list, I announce it to Mike: "I got sh*t done today." Admittedly, I didn't start sewing together the Merry, Merry Snowmen yesterday, but I got a lot of other stuff done.

First, I finished off My Embroidered Garden.

Finishing the stitching for this project was my goal for November's

and so I'll link up there when the party starts at the end of the month.

As I passed through Mike's office, I looked out the window to see a carpet of leaves at the front door.

The leaves on most of our trees have already fallen. This one at the front door is always the last. It's a little more protected than some of the others. It's an impressive mess, for sure. Blow Man needs to come, but he'll wait until they've all fallen.

From there, I baked some cookies. These are Pumpkin Oatmeal Cookies. I made them to use the partial can of pumpkin puree that was hanging out in the refrigerator. There's a half cup of pumpkin in the cookies, and then another tablespoon in the frosting.

They're tasty, but they needed to bake longer, as they're quite soft. I've linked to the recipe up there. If you try them, make sure you bake them long enough. I left mine two minutes longer than the recipe suggests. They could have used even more time. Also, I think they absorbed some moisture from the frosting. I'd like to try them again sometime (probably not before next year). If I do, I'll leave them in the oven longer. There's still another half cup of pumpkin in the freezer. I have another pumpkin cookie recipe I'd like to try when these are gone.

When the housekeeping chores and my Bowflex workout were finished, I could move to the quilting. This is the row of four I quilted yesterday. I'm having fun with these.

Outlining the applique is easy, and the bright colors are cheery on a gray day.

This one was a little tricky since I had to quilt both inside and outside the basket.

Finally, this one.

Now I'm on the final two rows of blocks. I left it needle down here, and this is where I'll start today. I've turned the quilt upside-down now so that I can keep the bulk on the table, rather than in my lap.

The day's to-do's are shorter today. I'll get back to my quilting, and I'll get started on the Tiny Treasures embroidery project. For sure, I'll get to sewing together the Merry, Merry Snowmen today. Aside from that, there's not much going on. I might have done it all yesterday, although I happen to know there is at least one short housekeeping chore. Also, I'll want to get in a walk on the treadmill.

When I'm doing my treadmill walks, I've been watching Ken Burns's documentary about the Civil War. Probably, I've watched it before, but it's been a long time. After many weeks, I'm on the final episode, and I should finish it today. I'm finishing just in time to start watching his new documentary about the Revolutionary War. If one can get excited about such things, then I'll admit to being excited to see his new film.

So that's all I have for you this morning. Onward with the quilting. The snowmen will have their day today too.
