Good morning, my friends. It's a happy day. My quilting project is finished and ready for binding. When I left you yesterday, I was still mulling over how to finish the outer border. I ended up doing a sort of diamond motif all the way around. It's a little hard to see, but I have the elongated diamond in the middle, and then a shorter diamond at each point.
Here's what I did in the corners.
Here's another look at that border. Sorry for the weird angle. It's sometimes hard to take a picture that will actually show the stitching.
I worked on this one side at a time until it was all finished, and then I laid it out on the floor to have a look.
I'll be using that same bright pink from the inner border for the binding. Here's another angle.
Here's a little peek at the back. You can see the border quilting on the right side of the image.
It was getting late in the day by the time it was finished, and so it still needs the binding strips sewn together and then sewn to the quilt. I was getting kind of tired of looking at it by then, and so I quit for the day.
There was some happy mail yesterday. The four yards of backing fabric for the Kitten in Teacups arrived. Is this a perfect fabric for that quilt back?
Also, the pattern for my "quilter's choice" panel quilt project finally arrived. It was slow getting here, and I ended up contacting the merchant, who gave me excellent customer service.
Aside from sewing on the quilt binding, this will be the next project I'll work on for my sewing day.
Probably there won't be any sewing today. We're getting our COVID vaccines today as a part of the study I mentioned in an earlier post. (We'll get our flu shots next week.) Our vaccines will be at 11:00 a.m., and then we'll get some lunch. After that, we'll do our grocery shopping. I might have put off grocery shopping until tomorrow, but it's senior discount day, and so it's a good time to go.
Knowing it's going to be a run-around day, I'm probably going to take the day off from blogging tomorrow. Not to worry, though. If I'm not here tomorrow, I'll be back on Thursday. By then, I should have plenty to show you.

That is the absolutely best ever backing fabric!!! Don’t you love it when that happens? I got my flu and Covid vaccinations yesterday….. extra strength now that I’m 65. First I get to go on Medicare and then extra strength vaccinations, boy oh boy, what fun ;-)
The quilting on the Barn quilt turned out beautifully. That cat in cups fabric is going to make such a fun backing for that quilt. Hope the vaccine doesn't make you feel too badly this time. It's no fun being out of commission for the better part of 24 hours.
Awesome job on the quilting on that whole quilt. Hope that Covid shot goes well. I've had mine about a week ago.
What a nice finish, the quilting looks great! And that backing for the kitty teacups couldn't be more perfect!
Your backing fabric for your Cats in Teacups is brilliant. I love it. I hope all went well with your covid shot yesterday. We also had ours yesterday and for some reason it his us both pretty hard. Not a good sleep night last night and a very sore arm (and body). Our flu shots was a weekago and easy peasy.
I love that wonderful backing fabric you found for the kitties in the teacups project. Nothing could be more perfect than that.
We managed to get our covid shots on Tuesday but had to settle for Moderna - Pfizer seemingly isn't available. No reaction beyond a bit of a sore arm. Flu shots won't be available until later in the month.
