Four Projects

Good morning, my friends. It was a busy day yesterday. I tried putting off the to-do's on my list, but I ended up doing everything. There was still time for plenty of sewing. My day started with a Bowflex workout...the first one in two weeks. I don't notice any problems with my shoulder. You might remember I had to take a break because of a muscle spasm. It seems completely gone now, and so I can resume my workouts. Also, I had some housekeeping chores on my list.

Of course, nothing happens here until I've done my morning slow-stitching. As I said yesterday, I was feeling wild and wooly, and so I did two Tiny Treasures. This first one was easy. It's all backstitch, and it only took a few minutes.

The next one is mostly stem stitch with one lazy daisy where the eye of the needle is. It took longer.

Smitty kept my feet warm while I stitched.

When I'd finished my housekeeping chores, I went outside to fill the bird feeders. I'm happy to see the Firefighter dahlia beginning to open. I think in just a few more days, it'll show it's colors.

Back inside, I went to work sewing together a back for the Fantastic Felines. You can see I managed to fit those three leftover blocks into the back, and I used up all of those fabrics. Only a few scraps are left.

It's hard to see what's going on there at the bottom. That's a black with multi-colored polka dots. I used it on the front too.

Knowing that I have 7 of the 12 Tiny Treasures stitched, it seemed like a good time to trace the next block for the Home is Where My Flock Is project. I don't want to end up with a stitching emergency. Thankfully, it's ready to go when this go-round of the Tiny Treasures is finished.

And then I could give my undivided attention to sewing together the embroidered blocks for Grandpa's Bridges. Sadie was my helper cat.

She's very glad we're still working with fabrics that compliment her furs.

After spending some time with my calculator, I determined I had enough of this pretty brown fabric to sew borders on all the blocks. There will also be enough for a stop border when I get that far. So, I cut all the border strips I'd need.

And then I sewed them on.

It was late in the day by then, and time to stop.

Just for fun, our neighbors shared some video from their trail cam. We've always known we have bobcats living in our area. We usually see just one of them once or twice during the summer. We hadn't seen them this year, but our neighbors captured this whole family on their trail cam. Very cool.

So I'm hoping I'll have some time for sewing today. I have a dental appointment...just a check-up and cleaning, hopefully. Wish me luck since I'll be traveling into war torn Portland. Hopefully, the roads are still passable with all the bomb craters and burned out buildings. For grins, here's a recent picture I saw of the battlefield.

I need to run a couple of errands while I'm out, but I still expect to be home early enough to do some more sewing. If there's time, I'll start making the sashings and cornerstones for Grandpa's Bridges. I have some great fabrics and plenty of ideas about how to proceed.

Have a good day, Everybody!
