Lazy Day

Good morning, my friends. It was a hot day yesterday. It's looking like another hot day today. Knowing it was going to be hot yesterday, I got out early and picked my bucket o' weeds. It was all done well before the heat set in, but I still felt incredibly lazy for the rest of the day. I sat and iced my knees, and then did some slow-stitching. And then I took a morning nap. I might have thought that would take care of my slothful ways, but it didn't. I still took another nap after lunch. I don't think of myself as a lazy person, but there was no denying the laziness I felt yesterday.

Then...toward the end of the day, I discovered this: August 10th (yesterday's date) is National Lazy Day.

How did I not know that? And how did my body know it even if I didn't?

And speaking of lazy...

I left him like that when I came upstairs to write this post. He's waiting for the sun to move above the trees so that he can bask in its light. I think this might be the part he misses most when we travel.

So despite my laziness, I was able to finish of July's cat for the Kittens in Teacups project. The faces are the most fiddly. I was able to sew this one together without any errors.

July's kitten is sitting in a purple teacup.

These are the kittens I have so far.

I still need to do June's kitten, but I'll put that aside for now and catch up when I make September's block.

Instead, I'll be returning to my regularly scheduled WIP's. Next up will be to make the 8th block for the Merry, Merry Snowmen. This is the picture from the pattern cover.

It's not as detailed as some of the others, and so I might get this finished today. Here are all the other blocks I have for this quilt so far.

We'll run out of food after dinner tonight, and so I'll be making up my shopping list today. Aside from that and the weeding, there's nothing else on the agenda. I'm still giving myself a break from any housekeeping chores until I've finished the weeding. Probably I'll have it finished in a day or two.

The field is mostly mowed now, and it's starting to feel as if we've moved into our regular routines. Hopefully, my energy level will improve when we're caught up on everything. Traveling is fun. Getting back into a groove takes some time.
