Good morning, my friends. No one would be any more surprised than I am at the presence of a quilt shop in the tiny town of Seward. We parked on the main drag, and I walked a short distance to the front door.
These fish (whales?) were inlaid on the front steps.
Walking through the front door it looked like this. It was a small space, well used, and chock full of fabrics.
Walking around those fabrics on the right, I found more fabrics to choose from. There were several boxes of fat quarters there on the left, and they were labeled with subject matter. It made it easy for me to choose my regional fabric.
On the far right wall were more Alaska themed batiks.
There were more pretty panels here.
And a nice display of vintage sewing machines. They were high overhead, and so it was hard to get very good pictures of them.
Moving on...these were all celestial-themed fabrics.
There was a good supply of books and patterns.
Along the back wall were more traditional quilters' cottons.
Along this wall, more patterns and kits from Alaska designers.
There was a good supply of notions.
These were under the front register.
Oh, and what's that I see on the left?
When I see a basket of buttons like this, I just want to run my hands through it.
So I liked this store if for no other reason than it was there. I ended up purchasing this "Leader of the Pod" pattern. I'm thinking I can put this together with the bear pattern I purchased earlier and create a "Land and Sea" quilt. It's from the same designer of the bear pattern. Maybe there's a way for me to incorporate the panel I bought too.
And when I saw this mosquito batik, I knew I needed it for my Shop Hop quilt. If you're keeping score, that's five fabrics down, one to go.
I know there are more quilt shops ahead. It should be no problem finishing off my Shop Hop 4.0 quilt with fabrics from this trip.
Okay, so that's it from me today. It's time for breakfast. We'll probably wait until this afternoon for our hike when there's less chance of rain.
