Good morning, my friends. We had a day of rest here in Tok yesterday. We had some "life" things to take care of. We bought groceries. Up until now, we've mostly been surviving on leftovers I brought from home for dinners. From here on, I'll have to do some actual cooking. Thus, the trip to the grocery store. It was still a relatively short list.
Check out the view of the mountains from the grocery store parking lot.
Back at the camper, we put away our groceries. Mike needed to fill our propane bottle, and he took advantage of our free car wash on his way back. Now the Jeep is clean again...doubtful it will stay that way for long. As it turns out, we're also entitled to wash the camper for free too, and so we'll do that this morning on our way out of town.
I spent some time with my slow-stitching in the afternoon, taking the first stitches on the fourth block for the Raggedy & Friends project. This one won't take long.
Later in the day, we walked over to the office where they have a pretty good gift shop. I was able to pick up a refrigerator magnet and a shot glass.
From here, we'll be spending a night in Delta Junction, the official end of the Alcan Highway. And...an unexpected bonus...there's a quilt shop there! Yay! We have a short day of driving ahead of us, and so I should have plenty of time for a visit.
From there, we'll travel the "Richardson Highway" to Fairbanks. We have three days reserved in Fairbanks. We'll be able to pick up the new part for our broken jack, and Mike tells me that will be an easy fix.
I've spent some time studying the attractions in Fairbanks. There's a lot to take in, but we've decided to stick with the more outdoorsy things. There are some museums that sound interesting, but we both get bored in museums pretty quickly. Also, there's a quilt shop there. I'm ticking off those six fabrics I need pretty quickly, and I'm still in search of a backing fabric for the Girls' Getaway quilt. As a reminder, it looks like this:
After Fairbanks, we'll be getting into the real meat of our trip. There's much sight-seeing ahead. Make sure you're wearing comfortable shoes. We'll do some walking when we get to Fairbanks. Just now, it's time for some breakfast, and then we'll button things up and take off. It's a short drive to our next destination.

amazing mountains,have a nice trip,greetings.
So glad you got a sunny day. Sounds like you rested, refueled and are ready for the road.
Grocery shopping might be more fun with a view like that!
I agree with Wendy - a mountain view whilst grocery shopping had to have been pretty nice. I've been seeing on the news here that Alaska is 'enjoying' a huge heatwave which is supposed to be totally unheard of there.
