Good morning, my friends. Day by day, things seem as if they're going slower and faster all at the same time. Yesterday saw me finishing up my be-there-at-a-certain-time appointments. That was three days in a row, and I'm too old for that. We'll be picking up my sewing machine today, but we can show up whenever we want. Same goes for the last-minute errands we'll run in town tomorrow. And then....we'll be home until we aren't. After that, we'll take our show on the road.
I was able to finish the Kitty Lover's Redwork yesterday.
When I arrived home from my pedicure appointment yesterday, I took a walk around. It was a warm day, and I hoped it would encourage the peonies to open. But no. You didn't really think it would happen did you? It is so tantalizingly close.
It seems as good a time as any to note that the next five days or so are going to be taken up with industrial-scale packing efforts. There will be very little to tell you about before we get on our way. So, I probably won't blog every day between now and then, but I'm sure I'll be checking in if, say, the flowers bloom, or anything else of note happens...an earthquake along the Cascadia Subduction Zone, for example. Flowers blooming and earthquakes are just the sort of seismic events that get our attention. And who knows? With me tripping on the sidewalk, I might have hit the ground hard enough to trigger a catastrophic earthquake. One can never be too careful nor too alarmist.
So, all of that to say that I might miss a few days between now and Tuesday. Tuesday will see us on the first leg of our journey. We have a night at a state park near Bellingham, Washington, before crossing the border into Canada the next day. There's plenty to do between now and then, but be ready my friends. On Tuesday, we ride.

Enjoy your special dinner - and happy (early) 50th to you both.
I'm so excited about your trip and can't wait to follow along with you. The fact that you're going to be in BC where our #2 son and his family lives is hugely exciting. I wonder if you'll be going through where he lives (Mission).
Congratulations on your 50th wedding anniversary. John and I have a little way to celebrate 50. I'm really looking forward to following along on your trip. I hope the packing and final preparations go well.
Happy 50th Anniversary! That peony is certainly a tease!
