Bordering on Two Finishes

Good morning, my friends. We use the word "finish" around here to describe moving to the next step. Finish doesn't necessarily mean "finished." Just so we're clear. How is everyone doing this morning? We're still into our chilly, willy weather here, although it was a pretty pink sunrise this morning.

Looking through a different window, it looked like this:

The mountains are covered in snow now.

Our roof and everything else is coated in frost. Our roof is forest green in color, but not with that frosty coating. It looks as if it's coated with powdered sugar.

Yesterday morning saw me taking the first stitches on the 8th block for Grandpa's Bridges. These take a while to stitch.

After that, I took a walk on the treadmill and then got back to my quilting. Yesterday's goal was to quilt this upsy-downsy heart motif in the yellow border.

I've had trouble turning the corner with any free motion motif I've tried. Now, I'm just doing something different when I get to the corner. Here, a heart seemed the obvious choice.

When I left it yesterday, I'd just started a flowery, leafy motif in the outer border. When I'd completed one repetition of the design, I left it needle down. Here's where I'll start today. If I'm very energetic, I might get the binding sewn on today.

When I made my way to the sewing room, I found Smitty ready for the day's assignment.

Sadie might have helped out, but she'd been stricken with a bad case of the adorables. This often happens to Sadie. She's walking along, minding her own business, and suddenly, she falls over. Adorable. She can't help herself.

But that's okay because I really only needed one cat to help me sew the Shop Hop rows together. They are straight, but apparently, I can't hold the camera straight.

The outer borders are cut to size, and I'll sew them on today. Then, this quilt will be ready for sandwiching and quilting...probably sometime in the next century.

With those finished, it'll be time to sew the "Snow Happens" project into a finished quilt top.

I don't expect that to take long. After that I'll want to sandwich and quilt the "Joy in the Ordinary" BOM from Jenny of Elefantz. It's a small quilt, and I'll probably quilt it on my domestic sewing machine. I'm not sure yet what I'll do with this, but I'll figure out something.

And I'm realizing time is growing short to write my reveal post for the "Mosaic" project. You guys probably forgot all about this, didn't you? This is the last picture I took when it was finished.

Okay, so I have plenty to do today...one small housekeeping chore, but otherwise NBS. It's going to be a good day. Stay warm out there, my friends. And, California, you guys have me worried. Please stay safe.
