Good morning, my friends, and welcome to December. It's a frosty and chilly morning here at the Three Cats Ranch. I imagine that will come as no surprise to those of you in the Midwest and the Northeast. You guys are probably digging out this morning. So sorry. I told this story to a Facebook friend yesterday: I once took a chemistry lab class in college. At one point during a day’s class period, we heard the unmistakable sound of a flask breaking and someone’s experiment results literally going down the drain. From the back corner of the room the class clown said, “Better you than me, man.” I’ve repeated that phrase to myself many times in the intervening years. It fits where "digging out" is concerned.
Our morning consisted of running errands, and I must confess, we stopped in for another McRib. I swear that is my last McRib this offering, and I really, really, really mean it this time. And so I did no housework, and no workout. Anything with the word "work" in it was postponed to a more suitable time...like, maybe today.
After I'd had my nap, I settled in to make four more Scrappy Plus blocks. It started with trimming the 48 half square triangles I'd made the day before. These were created two at a time, using four-inch squares.
Yesterday, I trimmed them to 3-1/4 inches.
There's something very gratifying about this pile of trimmings.
And then I could lay out the first block.
It takes me about an hour to make one block.
Before my sewing day was finished, I had two blocks.
There was time enough in the day to lay out the third block.
But I left it covered with rulers for protection from other "designers," and called it a sewing day.
Heading upstairs, I found these two deep in conversation.
Plotting revenge of some kind, no doubt.
While we watched the news, I did some more slow-stitching. When I had it this far, I decided to move my hoop up and to the left.
Here's where I'll start this morning. I've started in the most densely-stitched part of the block. When this much is finished, there isn't a whole lot left.
And since it's time to choose a monthly goal, I'll make finishing the embroidery on this quilt block my goal for December's
So today's list will include the things I didn't do yesterday, but I should have plenty of time to finish the remaining two Scrappy Plus blocks. Next up, I'll make another row for the Lightframe quilt. These are the blocks I have for this quilt so far.
My day ahead seems pretty easy going, even with the "work" things involved. We've already had our breakfast, and so slow stitching is next on my list. Have a good day, Everybody!

How did it get so late so soon? Its night before its afternoon. December is here before its June. My goodness how the time has flewn. How did it get so late so soon? ~ Dr. Seuss
Not everyone in the northeast is digging out. I'm about 65 miles west of the Buffalo Bills stadium. They have at least 18" and I have nothing. It all depends on which way the wind is blowing across the Great Lakes. Watertown, in northern NY has had 3 feet so far and they're not done yet. But it's cold, daytimes in the 30's and 20's at night.

hah - 'today's list will include the things I didn't do yesterday' - story of my life!
They had a big dump of snow not too far north of us and friends to the east by just a few miles got snow (altho' not as much) and so far we've only seen a few flurries. Would that the entire winter stay that way!
