Ready for Binding

Good morning, my friends. The day's plans went off the rails a little bit yesterday. I was sitting peacefully doing my slow-stitching when a text came across reminding me that a product we use regularly was 50% off this weekend. Well, I'm not one to miss a good sale, and so we ended up making a trip into town. It was okay because I was afraid I was going to run out of eggs. I wish I'd thought to pick up a couple of white chocolate bars while we were at it, but I did not. I'm not finished with my baking for the year, and I'm going to need some white chocolate. So I'll probably have to make another trip into town (shudder) between now and Thanksgiving, but it will be a quick in-and-out mission.

Knowing we were going into town, I went straight to work on these Pumpkin Spice Chocolate Chip Biscotti

They're sprinkled with cinnamon sugar, and they're very tasty. We were a little disappointed they didn't stay nice and crispy overnight. I might have put them away too soon. We're going to try leaving the lid off the container for a while today and see if they'll dry out a little more.

When those were out of the oven, we made our trek into town. It was lunch time. We had in mind to visit the local Subway for some sandwiches but then...(sound of trumpet fanfare)...we noticed the sign at our local McDonald's

Be still, my beating heart. I know, I know, I know. Just what is that mystery meat, anyway? But lemme just tell you...I 💗 the McRib. It's only available for a limited time, as usual, and I only allow myself one when it comes around. So...McRib. Check. That was our lunch. It saved the day. And we picked up the rest of our stuff, and then we went home.

Arriving home, I was determined to finish quilting Color My World, and so I went straight to work. It's a pretty quick job once you get into the rhythm of it, and it was finished within about an hour and a half.

Here's a little closer look at the quilting.

Here's how it looks from the back.

So I'm hoping I have enough of that yellow to use as a binding. If not, I probably have another yellow I can use. The quilt is 42 x 42 inches, and so it's possible I could have it finished today. More than likely, it will be tomorrow.

When that's finished, we'll return to our regularly-scheduled quilting projects. I'll be starting on my list of WIPs with the third block for the Merry, Merry Snowmen.

With our trip into town yesterday, I didn't get in my Bowflex workout, but I'll do that today. It was probably just as well since I think the Bowflex aggravates my wrist, especially when I'm also doing free motion quilting during the day. I wore the splint for the quilting yesterday, and my wrist feels fine this morning. It's awkward to quilt using the splint, but possible. Right now I'm on the hunt for something that will give me support with a little less bulk in the palm of my hand. I don't know if something like that exists, but I'll keep looking.

And speaking of snowmen, the Snow Happens piece is awaiting my return downstairs. A little breakfast, and then more stitching. It's going to be a good day.
