The Run Around

Good morning, my friends. We had a run-around day, and I'm afraid we're in for another one today. We had a not-enough-fuel problem with Mike's truck, which meant we were running around in my Jeep Wrangler. We had in mind to pick up some flower baskets, and he wanted to do some glass recycling. Unfortunately, the Jeep is too small to do both, and so we had to split our running around into two days. Oh well. We'll accomplish some other things while we're in town today. I dislike going into town enough that I try to pack every single thing into one trip.

And speaking of flower baskets, we picked up these two beauties to hang at the corners of my greenhouse window.

We usually do this as a Mother's Day treat, but we were traveling this year. We're a little late getting these hung.

We also got our COVID boosters while we were out. We both feel fine this morning, but we have sore arms. I'm just glad to be feeling okay. I can live with the sore arm for a few days.

After lunch, I made my way into the sewing room to spend a little more time with my "Vintage" quilt. Smitty was my helper cat.

When my hour was up, I continued working on it for a little while longer until I could get to a good stopping place. I figured out how to use the filters on my new version of Photoshop Elements, and so I'll give you a bigger peek today.

It was getting too late in the day to start anything else, and so I worked on our Alaska trip for a while. I'm pretty happy with the route I've mapped out at this point. Now I'm figuring out what we'll want to see at each stop. There are some good "RV to Alaska" groups on Facebook, and those folks are a wealth of information.

When I tired of that, I took a walk around the yard. There isn't much new, but the Red Cardinal clematis has opened all the way. It has just one flower at this point, but more buds on the way.

With the running around we did yesterday, there was no time for any weeding. Probably there won't be today either. I'm getting close enough to finishing that I really just want to get it done. On the other hand, when time is short, sewing gets my attention.

So there wasn't much going on yesterday. But I would be remiss if I didn't wish Miss Sadie a Happy Gotcha Day. She joined the Three Cats Ranch 8 years ago today. She was about a year old when we got her, and so we believe she’s about nine years old now. She was brought to a shelter with a litter of two kittens. The kittens were taken into purrtective custody, and I expect they were adopted by someone else. We never saw them. She’s happy to live in a house with lots of snuggle quilts. She was all snuggled up when I left her to come upstairs this morning.

Okay, so there was no time for slow-stitching yesterday. I'm champing at the bit to get started on the last "Joyful Journey" block. Probably I won't get to my quilting again today, but I'm hoping to make some more progress on the "Vintage" quilt. I'm going to say it's a little more than half finished at this point. I'm still hoping to finish it by the end of the month.

What's going on in your sewing room today?

No sewing in my sewing room (boo hoo), but all my hand sewing/stitching projects are loaded on the boat and ready to go. Today is our last day of shopping Costco/Wal Mart Super Center, for boat provisioning. We will be heading to unknown destinations on Tuesday. I love your beautiful flower baskets you picked up yesterday. What a cheerful display of color. I hope you have a great day today too!

I also send Happy Gotcha Day wishes to Sadie! I remember when you got her, but it doesn’t seem possible eight years could have passed by already! She is one lucky girl to live with you and Mike and Smitty!!
Even though it is a while before you depart on your trip to Alaska, I am already looking forward to where you take us!!
No sewing for me today….too many other things on my list….but that is okay….in Virginia, we have temps in the mid to upper 90’s all next week, so there will be lots of time for sewing then!

Best wishes to Sadie, I'm sure she appreciates being adopted into your home. You bought yourselves some pretty baskets, bursting with blooms.

Happy Gotcha Day to Sadie. Has it really been 8 years? Wow, time certainly flies. I'm not a big fan of errand days either, I'll have one of those today, bank, car tags, post office. Glad you were able to figure out the filters on Photoshop Elements, there's a lot of menus, it takes a bit to find/remember where things are.

Guess I'm late to the Gotcha party, but special skritches to Sadie anyway.
We had our latest covid booster a couple weeks ago and also relieved that nothing happened but a slightly sore arm.
Those petunias look amazing. They're something I could never keep from going leggy and looking awful, no matter how hard I tried (or how many online tips I read).
