Good morning, my friends. I was giving my wrist a rest yesterday, and so there isn't much to report from the day's movements. It was a pedicure day, and then I made a couple of stops on the way home. A gentleman at Staples was kind enough to enlarge the next three quilt blocks for When Quilters Gather. There is a small cost involved, but I like it better than having to try to figure out the machines myself.
It seems impossible to believe I only discovered the rotten dahlia tuber on Monday. Yesterday the replacement tuber arrived right on schedule. See how they stamp the name of the tuber right on the tuber itself?
This is the one called Bumble Rumble. When I visited the dahlia festival with Mae last fall, I took a picture of this one.
Some of the dahlias are more pompom shaped. Mae correctly noted the bees were attracted to the ones with centers, and those are the ones I selected for our pots. Now this one has been replanted, and I'm keeping my fingers crossed they'll all survive and bloom this fall...preferably before we leave on the trip we've planned.
Okay, so today is a grocery shopping day. I really need to do some laundry too. My wrist is feeling better, but I might decide to give it another day's rest. I'll see how it feels later this afternoon and make my decision then.

The torchlit garden was redolent with the colors and scents of autumn... gold and copper foliage, thick borders of roses and dahlias, flowering grasses and beds of fresh mulch that made the air pleasantly pungent. ~ Lisa Kleypas
Had to go back and catch up - wondering what was going on. Phew, glad it's nothing too serious. Happy mail with the dahlia! Hope your wrist is feeling better today.
Hopefully your wrist is fully recovered as of today. At least you got some non-sewing prep done for one of your projects even if you couldn't work in the sewing room. I have to brave Walmart today for some things we can't get at the grocery store.
Now I can see why you wanted this one to grow. It is a beautiful one. I had one daliha a couple of years ago. Did fine. Nothing since.
Humming birds are enjoying my efforts. Im enjoying theirs. Its a win-win.
Bees are enjoying the tall yellow flower weeds that grow on a tall stalk.
Our #2 son and daughter-in-love have a thing for dahlias and grew many different ones last year. They tried to dry the tubers and keep them in the garage over winter but most of them rotted so they're having to start over with their collection. Hopefully next winter they'll be more successful.
I, too, am a fan of Staples when it comes to getting patterns enlarged.
