Good morning, my friends. It's been a long time since I've been happy to see Friday arrive. After retirement, pretty much every day is Saturday, and so Friday doesn't hold the attraction it once did. On the other hand, when the schedules of other still-working people dictate the your own week, then you're happy when they all go home and you can get back to your sewing. That's how I feel about it anyway. And all of that to say I'm very happy to be staying home today and every day for the foreseeable future.
When I left you yesterday, I was hot on the trail of the one remaining campsite at a certain Utah state park. I had to wait until 7:00 a.m. (our time) before I could jump in and reserve it. It was 6:58 a.m., and I needed to take a bathroom break. I figured I could get it done in two minutes and be back for my precious reservation. And I was. I had the page up on my screen and had to "refresh" before I could do anything else. When the page "refreshed," the spot was already reserved. (Shakes fist at some unknown person out in the world, doing the exact same thing I was doing.) So, okay...no state park for us on this trip. KOA it is. It works out all right because the KOA is in Moab, and we'll have our ATV's with us. Might as well do some riding while we're there. It's all good, and nobody died.
Getting back to things here at home, I was able to get some sewing done yesterday. At the top of my list was to make the next Tiny House...this one:
It's kind of a modern take on a house. Sadie was happy to get back in the sewing room until she saw what we were doing.
More tiny houses? This is downright exaspurrating! How many of these are there?
Let's have a look. Hmmmmm...this is a rather purrplexing design.
Now that I think of it, I'm feeling rather furtigued. It's purrobably best if I rest up before we get started.
Snnnnnzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz...
Smitty came from his office in HR just about the time she dropped off. He could scarcely believe the level of sloth he was witnessing.
This is an apawminable dereliction of duty. I'm going to have to take this up with her supurriors.
Even without kitty help, I was able to get it about half finished. The sections are numbered "C" through "N" for this one. I've worked my way through section "I," so it's about half finished.
You might not know that yesterday was National No Dirty Dishes Day.
Since we always follow the rules here at the Three Cats Ranch, we had dinner out last night. While I was waiting for Mike to finish up his day's activities, I went ahead and fixed the spines on the books for the Shop Hop 3.0 quilt. You might remember I had them sewn on so the words read up from the bottom, rather than down from the top, as they should be. It was a small thing, but I couldn't stop thinking about it. The fix was easy enough, and now this topsy-turvy world has been set right again. Breathe easy, my friends. So yes, I get to stay home today, but it's still going to be a busy day. The guys are heading east this weekend for a road rally. I've already made breakfast burritos for their breakfast while they're gone. Today I'm going to bake two kinds of cookies. One batch is an old standby, but the other is a new recipe. You might think of the "standby" cookies as the "emergency back-up cookies" in case the new recipe doesn't work. One can never be too careful, and where cookies are concerned...well, enough said.
Also, I'm going to get a start repotting the tomatoes into their largest pots of the season. The tomatoes are growing visibly each day, and I want to repot them before they get too tall to be handled easily. If I can get all that done, there should be some time for sewing later this afternoon. I want to finish the Tiny House, and I need to make up my next embroidery piece. Then, I'm really, really, really going to get started on the challenge piece. By the way, if you look at that picture of Smitty above, you can see it lying on my table to his right. I have the template plastic resting under a large ruler to flatten it out some. Enticing, no?
Okay. Busy day ahead. Time to get going. I hope your weekend is getting off to a good start.

I hate housework! You make the beds, you do the dishes and six months later you have to start all over again. ~ Joan Rivers
I love the book blocks..such a great idea!
I'd love to know what your stand-by cookies are. Mine are oatmeal raisin from the Bakery Lane Soupbowl Cookbook. Tollhouse cookies are probably my special flavor.
We have a few houses around here that resemble that tiny house block. Your book blocks are so fun; what a great idea!
The book blocks do look better with the words on the spine going the correct way. Isn't it funny how something so simple can change how it all looks?
I'm thinking there should be a National No Dirty Dishes day every week. I'm so tired of cooking and even more tired of cleaning up my kitchen constantly.
Being left handed, I find your book blocks very awkward now!!! One of the reasons I loved filing was so I could get the labels to go the correct way up.... Then watching right handed folks trying to read them!!!!.... Little things....lol
Your post reminds me to pot on my tomatoes. I found a pack of veg seeds whilst clearing my husband's stuff and planted them up, not expecting much as he's been gone 2+years.....but I have striped tomatoes, purple carrots and some rainbow chard doing fine in the greenhouse!!! He had a weird sense of humour too!

Joan Rivers was the bomb! Although, I do love a made up bed, every day! I always say, if you get up and make your bed right away, you've already accomplished your daily goals! Don't feel badly about your state Park miss......I had 3 acceptable sites for our square dance meetup April of 2024....by the time I got in, all three were gone. In an act of defiance, we decided not to attend the weekend, and booked a week(!) in a different park, farther south, all by ourselves. Beaches, here we come! Ha, watch it rain all week, which it never does in April.
Can't wait to see the challenge, you always have such good back stories behind them. Thank you for accommodating your friend's OCD....they were bugging me too, but, I figured, your quilt, your rules. Or act of defiance, should you wish. I only ever follow rules that matter. Like red lights, those rules can be important.sp3ding, eh...maybe, maybe not. Depends on conditions and traffic. And how much of a hurry I'm in. Which is to say, I'm usually not. You're right, every day is Saturday, and we love it!!
Yay for days at home! I haven't had any of those this past week either so today is going to be a bonus. And what, pray tell, am I doing with said bonus day? Obviously spending too much of it on the computer!
