We awakened to around 8 inches of snow this morning. In nearly 20 years in this house, we’ve never seen this much accumulation so deep into the month of April. Also, the power went out shortly before midnight last night. Looking online, I’m told the cause is still “under investigation,” and the estimated time until it’s back on is 4:00 p.m. Bummer. At least the sun has come up, and so we won’t be sitting in the dark. It means I can’t run the vacuum though, and you know I was terribly excited about that. Thankfully, I have plenty of slow-stitching to keep me busy and two headlamps. (Makes me wished I’d charged them while I had the chance.) Anyway…this is today’s post. It’s been real, and it’s been fun. But it hasn’t been real fun.
Whenever I start whining about being temporarily inconvenienced, I remind myself to be grateful for what I have. For some people, current conditions would be a luxury. And if I were living in Ukraine, it would be substantially longer before the power comes back on…if ever. So chin up, my friends. Things aren’t so bad. I’ll be back to tell you more when the power comes back. For now, let’s wish this handsome fellow a happy 10th birthday.

What a surprise to see snow in April and so much snow. Your great attitude makes me smile and I need to find plenty of reasons to smile right now (Ukraine tugs at my heart). Happy 10th Birthday Smitty.

Happy Birthday, Smitty! I think that storm front is coming our way later this week. That is a lot of snow! We have sunshine and low 50s here today, so I'm going to soak that up, knowing what's coming.

What a rude awakening - wow. Good thing you could look on the bright side though and realize that you got an unexpected holiday from vacuuming.
Happy Birthday Smitty! It's good you have a fur coat and lots of quilts and laps to keep you warm. That storm is headed my way. Right now the weather guessers don't know if will hit us hard or if we will just be on the fringe of it. But we are used to that. We have even had snow in May occasionally.
