The weather could have been more cooperative yesterday. I was hoping to get out for a walk, but it was overcast and raining off and on during the day. Today is looking brighter. I'll probably be able to do that this morning. It is Sunday, however, which means Blueberry Oatmeal Pancakes for breakfast. It also means we're having dinner with friends this evening, and I'm bringing dessert. I'll be baking an Orange Upside-down Cake using some of the oranges they gave us from their trees. I've made it before, and I'm certain I've blogged about it, but I couldn't find it anywhere. It was a test recipe for America's Test Kitchens, and so maybe I didn't blog about it. You'll just have to wait to see today's version. It has been published in Cook's Country now, and so I'll be able to share the recipe tomorrow.
I was lucky to have my stitching cat by my side while I worked on my slow stitching. The morning can't start any better than that.
As for the rest of yesterday, I spent another day sewing. I was able to finish off all the French roses I cut and kitted up for the journey. There were five more to make:
I boosted myself up with a pillow yesterday since my chair is a little low. It wasn't particularly helpful, and so I abandoned the effort about halfway through. What I really need to do is sit up straight, and stop slouching.
It's going to be a colorful quilt. I like the golf ball fabric in the image below.
And I like the mix of colors in this next one. See the little heart on the center piece?
And this was the last one. I was kind of tired of them by the time I finished this one.
Adding to the five I made the day before, here are the ten latest French roses.
Adding to the five at home, I have 15 blocks. I'll need 25 to finish off the quilt. I'll finish the rest when we get home. This is my goal for January's
so I'll link up there when the part starts at the end of the month.
With the weather improved, I'm for sure and certain going to get out for a walk this morning. First, though, I'll get at those pancakes and bake a cake. I'd say there isn't much going on, but that's enough to cover most anyone's morning. I'll show you the cake in tomorrow's post. I picked up one blood orange to add to the mix, and I'm hoping it will be a pretty cake for our get-together with friends this evening.

I have the same problem as you - needing a booster seat! I visited our friend Mr. Amazon a few months back and bought this cushion. It's a VERY sturdy foam and does not give way like a pillow does. It's really helped! Not cheap, but currently has a $2 off coupon available.

We are in "waiting mode" for a big NE-ster tonight through tomorrow Noontime.
Really heavy snow to rain and high winds...so Tom has been battening us down and has extra gasoline in case our power does out--fingers crossed it won't as the storm is due during the nighttime hours --I always hate that--as I never can really sleep deeply with that worry that we may have a power outage during the night--and it is pretty cold here...

Like Julierose, we are waiting for the 'big one' of storms. Super cold and pray the power stays with us. Soak up the heat and sunshine for us.
Yikes! All the news and talk about the big chill and wind back east has me feeling fortunate to live on the west coast. And then I think of the wildfires and drought. Well, I will enjoy the sunshine and pleasant temperatures in winter while I can. Let’s hope all in the blogosphere stay snug and warm as the storm blows through.

Years ago I bought a balance disc that I could take with me to scrapbook retreats to ease my back while using awful chairs. I now take it with me to quilty events and sometimes use it at home as well. Gypsy Quilter Sit Upon is the easiest to search, but I ended up choosing a cheaper version.
