Sunrise-Sunset

As I finished up yesterday's post, I noticed everything outdoors had taken on a pink cast. Looking in the opposite direction, there was a dramatic sunrise underway.

It was a good morning to try a new recipe. I found this just before we left home, and I've been wanting to give it a try. These are 10-Minute Coffee Cake Mug Cakes.

They were pretty good! They're mixed and microwaved right in the mug. It was a sweet way to start the day. Mike made some bacon for a little protein, and they were surprisingly filling. We were satisfied until we ate a some lunch late in the day. You can find a link to the recipe back there. Please note that the recipe is for a single mug, and so if you're going to give it a try, you need to add the same ingredients to both mugs. We thought there was too much streusel, and so I'd split a single serving of streusel for both mugs. Also, we didn't think the drizzle added much flavor, but it did add even more sugar to an already sugary dish. I'd make it again for sure. It was a good camping recipe, and it was kind of fun.

After that, we started checking off items on our agenda, which consisted of nothing at all. Please allow the kitties to demonstrate how the rest of our free day went:

We were lazy most of the day until I remembered I had some picture postcards for mailing. We walked the 50 yards to the office to include them in the outgoing mail. While there, I snapped this image of the petrified logs just outside the building. I imagine there are bits of petrified wood all over the surrounding desert. There are certainly plenty of gift shops selling the stuff.

And that was our day until the sun set. Day is done.

Today we'll be moving on to Oracle, Arizona, where we'll be staying five nights. If the forecast is to be believed, tomorrow holds a good chance of rain. We'll probably get our grocery shopping done then, and save the rest of our time for riding ATV's. Mike has some good trails picked out. It won't be as punishing as the rocky rides we took in Colorado, and we're going to see some interesting stuff.

Looks like a lovely, relaxing day! It had to be, if it started with coffee cake and bacon (yum!).

That is a beautiful beginning and ending to your day! A friend gave my son a chunk of petrified wood when he was a kid. I use it as a doorstop now, since it is very heavy.

The cats look like they are really enjoying a relaxing day (and their entire adventure). Pretty pictures and sunrise/sunsets. We've seen some amazing pink mountains and awesome sunsets in the Oracle/Oro Valley/Tucson areas. I hope with the possibility of rain you get a chance to see them too. I don't know all that much about Oracle so I'll be curious what you think of it.

Beautiful sunrise photos. Your kitties are apparently experts at chilling during the daylight hours, what great little traveling companions they are. Sammy would go absolutely nuts confined inside that camper, he tells us loud and clear when he needs "out" which is generally about five minutes after being let inside.

Interesting that the shops would be allowed to sell pieces of the petrified wood when so obviously there are signs saying you're not supposed to remove any of it. A day of sloth sounds like just what you needed.
