Just as I snapped his picture, something caught Smitty's eye.
It's just Sadie.
She dropped down there for a good old-fashioned dust bath.
Yeah...that's what I'm talkin' about.
After I'd filled the bird feeders, I pulled a few weeds from among the strawberries. Also, I noticed the cherry tomato is getting its first flowers.
Back inside, I spent some more time on the Pansy Mosaic, finishing all but just a few pieces of the yellow pansy.
Sadie took a turn at enforcing the no-flying-fabric rule.
Earlier, I'd used long and short stitches to stitch up the pansy on the Stitch stitchery. (I wonder if there's some other way to use the word "stitch" in that sentence.) I could say, the long and short stitches had me itching to stitch more stitches on the Stitch stitchery. (Trying saying that five times fast.)
All of that pretty much filled the whole day.
This being May 1st, it's time to choose May's OMG. And that means I have to make up my mind between two projects. I think the winner will be sewing the Snow Globes quilt into a flimsy. Here's a not-very-good picture of the embroidered blocks:
I have all the fabrics I need to sew them into a completed quilt top, and so that's my goal for the month. Quilting will have to wait until much later.
Each month, I try to finish a flimsy and also to quilt and bind one of my quilt sandwiches. That said, the other project I want to finish in May, but lower in priority, is to quilt and bind the Cardinal Mosaic.
It's a smaller quilt, and so it shouldn't take too long. It's time to start thinking about the quilts I want to enter in the Oregon State Fair and the NW Quilting Expo this fall. If I can pull off the quilting, this one might be in the running.
Today I'm getting my monthly pedicure (didn't I just get April's, like, last week?), and then I'm heading to the grocery store. That won't leave much time for sewing, but I'll do as much as I can. The days are getting busier for the next week. Tomorrow I'll be on a fabric-shopping expedition, hunting for some homespun to use with the Guatemalan fabrics. Friday, I'll be walking with Sue. Saturday, I'll be cooking and packing for a several-day getaway to Bandon, Oregon, on Sunday. There's lots to do, but the pansies will get their time too. I'm really hoping to finish it off before we leave on Sunday.

The Pansy Quilt is looking impressive. I somehow seemed to have missed the start of this--I guess I was away but I'll have a look in your archives. Love your bird one too. Both seem entry-worthy.
It's been fun to watch the pansies come to life. We're too muddy for dirt bathes, but my furkids love them too - and then come in a lay in the linen closet on the cleanest item there.
You're quilting pansies and embroidering pansies, too! You have a busy week ahead. Your getaway sounds fun; is it quilt related?

Just look at those gorgeous kitties out in the sun! I've been getting my cat-fix this week, house sitting again. Have on seen the Glaring One once, but Ries has been helping me get ready in the mornings. Today we had a grand scratch & purr fest!
The pansy mosaic is amazing.
I nearly got a stitch in my side as I read of your switching stitching a pieced pansy to an embroidered one. Such stitching has me itchin' to do some of the same.
