Rainy Day Cats

We were lucky to get a rain break for our trip to the Farmer's Market yesterday, but we're making up for it today. It has rained hard and steady for most of the day. The kitties have been out in it, but they like to sit on the woodbox under the eaves. Sadie goes out into the rain and comes back with her fur saturated. She's no better than a woofie that way.

Smitty was out earlier. He so dearly wants to be out hunting mousies and chasing squirrels, but the weather is not cooperating.

What's the matter, Smitty? Are ya' yella?

Nah...I just purrfur the interior of the house where it's warm and dry. I'll leave the wet stuff to the impurrudent kittens.

It's been a busy morning. I've been cooking getting ready to have the kids over for dinner tonight. Before I started that, I finished up the southwest corner of my stitchery.

Now there's just a little bit left to do there in the southeast corner, and this one will be finished.

In between stitching, I baked this Roasted Rhubarb and Ginger Streusel Tart. Yum. You might recall I roasted the rhubarb and made the streusel on Thursday. This morning, I made the crust and then assembled it for baking.

Only one thing left to do now...and we know how to do it here at the Three Cats Ranch.

Yesterday afternoon, I acquired an update to my iPhone. Geez. Every new version is more complicated than the one before. We've spent the past 24 hours getting it set up, taking a break only to eat and sleep. Finally, I think it's there. But while we were doing that, we noticed Sadie has taken up residence where George used to like to nap. She was up on the hutch above my desk, lying on an old laptop bag. Pause here for a moment and admire the accumulation of dust. Yes, I've been collecting dust. Eventually, I'll felt something with it.

What can I say? We've been traveling. And besides...who looks up unless it's to find one's cat? So thanks for that reminder, Sadie. Maybe it's time to fire the housekeeper. (As if.)

That's all I've done for the past couple of days. Mike is helping tidy up downstairs, but I still need to set the table for tonight...oh yes, and I suppose a shower is a good idea too.

We're hoping for better weather come Wednesday of this week. Please, forecast. Don't fail me now, because we are in dire need of some sunshine.

I guess Sadie is more water-loving-tiger-like than Smitty is.

Well, please post a tutorial on whatever you felt; I'm pretty sure I'll need something to do with mine! Thank goodness my 6'6" hubby is the only one who sees what's up there. I'm too short, so I figure out of sight, out of mind. That pie looks yummy, and the embroidery project you are working on is so fun with all of the friendship sayings. My cat wouldn't want to be out in the rain for sure!

I'm with Smitty on this one - warm and dry! And with you on the dust bunnies - out of sight, out of mind. Besides, you've been away. (we open the sliding doors and let the breeze roll all the fur bunnies into big ole tumbleweeds, then it's real easy to bend over and pick 'em up. I count that as exercise, too, accomplishing two things that need doing, with only minimal effort. (always my goal, minimal effort)

Off to dance!! :) Have fun with the kids, tart looks yummy, even if it is rhubarb!

I would definietly be an indoor cat, rain in my hair just feels yucky. Your stitchery is looking good and so does that tart.

Mine do not like the rain, but do not mind getting wet in a dripping faucet!
