Rain and Relaxation

At home, a day of rain is a day for sewing. It was tempting to get out the sewing machine yesterday, but we had some errands to run and some grocery shopping to do. When we left the RV, the kitties were in their usual morning napping positions.

When we got back to the RV, nothing would do until we got Smitty out for a walk. He's become quite the little walker, with much more confidence and boldness.

While they were out walking, I got to work and baked the last of the blueberry-cherry pie filling into a Blue Cherry Pie for Two. I have some more of the filling at home. For now, this is it. We had that for dessert last night with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

After his walk, Smitty grabbed some more lap time on Mike's lap.

Sadie has made peace with her permanent indoor status. She watches Smitty when he's outside, and she sniffs him all over when he comes back inside. After her escape several months back, she seemed determined to get out the door again, but she's stopped doing that. Now she avoids the door, as if she fears being sucked out if she gets too close. We're still very careful with her, but she entertains herself with "window hunting" alongside her pal Smitty.

She often throws her front leg around Smitty's neck in an "I love you" gesture. Smitty tolerates this, but barely.

The ninth Wine Country block is finished now.

The next time I work on this, I'll be doing this block.

But next, I'll be working on the third of the Snow Globes blocks. This one is "Angel."

I'm still having trouble with the Pigma Micron pen I brought along to trace these blocks. After I'd traced this one, I tried the pen just on paper. It barely writes on paper, let along on fabric.

While we were out, I picked up a package of Frixion pens. I have some misgivings about Frixion pens, but for this fabric, they may be a better choice. I'll report back when I trace the next block several weeks from now.

This morning we're heading back east a little way to Tallahassee. We have two reasons for visiting Tallahassee...one is to stay in a genuine RV park so we can have a sewer connection and do some laundry. The other is to explore the upper section of the Big Bend Scenic Byway. It's a loop drive, 220 miles in length. Our plan is to explore the northern section of the loop while we're in Tallahassee, and then we'll explore the southern section when we head south to Ochlockonee River State Park in Sopchoppy, Florida. We have several days there, and we'll have time to explore the southern section of the byway as well as taking a side trip to nearby St. Mark's National Wildlife Refuge.

There's plenty to do over the next week. We've had some needed time to relax and rejuvenate ourselves. Now we're looking forward to getting back into sight-seeing mode.

Some more beautiful stitching. I'm hoping maybe Sadie will eventually go for walk too, Wouldn't that be great. I wonder what made her go from one extreme to the other. Tourtie's are strange little creatures. They never do anything half way. And stand a little alouf. Mine lived 23yrs. And you were never allowed to forget she was there. That wasn't always a good thing. But we loved her.
Be safe and continue to enjoy your travels
Hugs

My current/hanger project is being marked with a Frixion pen (the grid background). I use it whenever the background fabric is light enough so that the "ghost line" that may be left after ironing is not noticeable. I don't really have fears of the line coming back as I keep my projects warm and don't send them to winter events elsewhere.

Blueberry/Cherry pie sounds good.

I use my frixon pens all of the time, for marking many things. Right now I'm making fabric books for my 8 mo. old granddaughter who loves to "read." I brought a whole slew of these cheaters in the '80's when my girls were little but I was working (teaching) and didn't have time to do them. So now I'm retired and my granddaughter is getting the benefit of my time.

It's nice to have a relaxing day to catch up and get ready for your next adventure.
Sounds like some fun places, can't wait to see them.

Hope you have better luck with the Frixion pens. I have them, but rarely use them. I'm skeptical about whether the marks will show up permanently in years to come, and I live in a climate that goes from hot to cold, so those lines would come back if I take my project in my car in the winter, etc. Good to see the kitties and Smitty looking so handsome on his walk. Hope you have good travels.

I have read that if a felt tip, like the pigma pens are, does not seem to want to write, pour a little rubbing alcohol in a narrow container, and set the bare tip of the pen in it. It will absorb the alcohol and make the ink run again like it should. Hope you still have it to test this with!

Love the kitty pictures of them snuggled under quilts,do they do this themselves, or do they get your help?

Ahhh, kitties & quilts. There ain't hardly nothin' better 'n that!
The pie has made my mouth water. Lucky I have a napkin handy.

The wine block is nice - if that is metallic silver on the glass & bronze on the bottle, it's shown up well on my computer this time!

Your wine blocks are very nice. I think this will be a wonderful quilt when you get them all done. Tell Smitty he is such a good gentleman to let Sadie give him a hug now and then.

I am glad Sadie has stopped trying to escape. My Kirby wants to go out side so bad, co I have been letting him out on the porch while I go after the mail. He loves rolling on the warm concrete. Today he found a bare patch of dirt to roll in! Now I will have to start brushing him after his excursions !
