You might wonder why we spent so much time on errands. It was because we have been on the hunt for our favorite ice cream bars...these Dove Sorbet Bars.
We discovered these while on this trip. They're 150 calories per bar, and so relatively low calorie. By "relatively," I'm contrasting them with the large bowl of ice cream we used to eat before mending our ways. Anyway...we can't always find these, and so we searched multiple stores looking for them. When we found them, we bought two boxes. One can never be to careful. But that wasn't the gluttony part of the day. The gluttony part came in when we went in search of genuine barbecue.
People on Yelp seemed to like this place, and it was close to us. The barbecue places we found on Yelp were all Mom & Pop order-at-the-counter type places.
And it was the real deal with a wood smoker and barbecue going outside in the parking lot.
The man inside was kind of a kick. He was excited to learn we were from Oregon since a former employee had moved there. He keeps in touch with her, and she'd complained that she couldn't find good barbecue in Oregon. Not surprising at all.
Here is a close-up of the menu. Mike an I both ordered the two meats and two sides option...pork and chicken, beans and mac & cheese.
It was all delicious, and we cleaned our plates.
While we were eating, we got a chuckle out of the funny t-shirts and signs.
We're taking off again today...on our way to Wilmington, North Carolina. We'll be staying there until Sunday when we'll head north to the Outer Banks. In the meantime, Thanksgiving. I'll say more about that in tomorrow's post.

Yum! Love good BBQ.
I can see why you would want those bars, they look so good.
That is a fun place to eat and looks delicious.

Love those Dove bars myself - and they are hard to find. What a fabulous BBQ place and what a meal!! Hoping you have a grand Thanksgiving no matter where you park your wheels.
I have never had those bars but I WILL NOW!!! They look scrumptious. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving. hugs,
I just realized all the French knots you did on the new block! I like the touchs of burgundy you're using.
Mmmmm, the BBQ looks yummy. We're having omelets for dinner tonight. Ham and turkey tomorrow. My nephew is making pies and at least one will have a graham cracker crust as he was asking how to make it. Your pie looks delish!
Happy Thanksgiving Barbara, Mike, Smitty and Sadie!!
The BBQ looks very yummy. It almost looks like the Mac and Cheese had tomatoes in it! Now I must be on the hunt for Raspberry Dove bars. All I have to do to be ready for Thanksgiving is but the fully cooked smoked turkey in the oven to warm and make a fruit salad. I make a pie and fudge tonight. I attempted Can't fail Divinity, but it was a big failure. I don't think I boiled the syrup long enough! I will try again at Christmas!
Ice cream is an important food group and is challenging to find something you can have when trimming calories. If you can find it, Skinny Cow has some pretty good ice cream bars and sandwiches for 110 to 120 calories each. The bar-b-q looks yummy. Hope you and Mike have a very happy Thanksgiving.
Yum! There's nothing like a good BBQ! Glad you located your Dove bars. My daughter and I were shopping at lovely Target (note the sarcasm) the other night and decided to pick up some Mystery Oreos, thinking they were an assortment of all the Oreo flavors out there. Nope. New flavor, we were supposed to guess what the flavor is and text it in for a chance to win big bucks. Honestly, it tasted like froot loops. Yuck. So I'm glad your Dove bars were spot on! Enjoy!
Being native Texans, good BBQ is a must! Glad you found some.
Drooling! :-)
Really cute stitching.
Those bars sound like something I would like. I'm going to have to look for them. And good BBQ is always a wonderful thing.
