A Few Blocks

Yesterday I was able to finish up the challenge blocks still waiting on my cutting table. First was Block 12 for the Solstice Challenge. This one is "Jacob's Ladder" and I made mine in Mardi Gras colors. It probably should have been made last week, but better late than never, right? I was working with scraps, and I cut the pieces wrong at least twice. That meant I needed to do some creative cutting to be sure I had enough fabric. It's probably just as well that I get my stupid sewing done before starting my class today. When it was finished, I ended up with this 18-inch block:

Then I needed to do eight more square in a square blocks for the "Welcome Home" small quilt mystery challenge. This is the remainder of clue #3. I'm told the next clue won't come out for quite a while, and so this one is caught up for now.

And that's it from me until after today's class. It's about an hour and a half drive north to Fiddlesticks Quilt Shop, and I'm keeping a positive outlook that the class will go a little easier on my feeble mind than it did last year. Wish me luck.

Love the Mardi Gras colors in your block. Hope the class is really good this year and you have some fun people to stitch with.

I'm looking forward to your class posts. I really enjoyed last year. I just got back from a quilting retreat in NC last weekend and had a ball. I know yours is a class, but I'm imagining all the great stuff you're going to learn. And the picture of your brother is fantastic. Have a great time!

Whoa. Didn't realize the Jacob's Ladder block was that big (I haven't read the directions yet). I love the colors! Have a blast at the quilt class. Will be fun to see how your project progresses.

I am looking forward to reading your class posts! I actually took a guild workshop yesterday with Peggy Martin and had a blast. Finished 2 complete blocks & am planning to work on more when I get home from work today. :D
