Two-Thirds Done

Although there was a lot of running around to do yesterday, I had time to get one more block quilted on the Gingerbread Square quilt. The Main Street shops are finished now.

With the bottom two rows finished, I took it downstairs once again to see if I could get a shot of the quilting on the back...and again, I think it was too late in the day for the best contrasting light. The back fabric is pretty busy and that thin white bottom line thread might not show up at all. Either way, I could spread it out and see the whole of it.

The dense quilting on the block backgrounds means that the little embroidered scenes stand out from the rest of the quilt.

My quilting is sort of hit or miss, but this is going really well. I have some good ideas for the borders too if I can pull it off.

Of course, you can't spread a quilt on the floor without having a troop of quilt inspectors show up.

Sadie, I think it's purrfectly awful that there isn't even one cat on this quilt. What's up with that?

Well, even without cats, Smitty, it makes me want to streeeeetch out and snuggle. I'll be the cat on the quilt.

And there you have it. The best propurrties of a quilt in one word: snuggleability.

The wind is howling this morning, and the temperature is a chilly 26°F. There's almost a 100% probability that we'll be getting snow today. Fortunately, the grocery shopping is done, and so there's plenty of food to keep us fat and happy for the next week...emphasis on the "fat". Also, there's a mountain of laundry to do, and so that's where I'm headed next. It seems a tall order to get the remaining blocks quilted today, but I'm going to try.

I so love this quilt, and your quilting is awesome. All of those "practice samplers" are paying off

The red/white checkerboard piecing really makes the embroidered squares stand out.

I'm loving this quilt more and more each time I see it!
Argh! Laundry? Please! I have to do some tomorrow, because my daughter and I lingered over shopping today and didn't get home until 4ish. I saw Portland got plenty of snow, or is still getting plenty of snow. We are just freezing, no moisture, so no snow...for now!

The more I see of this quilt, the more spectacular it becomes in every way. You have done such a beautiful job, this quilt will surely be a family heirloom. Are you going to enter it in any competitions? Seeing your kitties on it is delightful also. Thank you for sharing and have a fantastic creative day....hopefully without to much snow or at least not the freezing temperatures!

The quilting really makes the embroidery stand out. What you've gotten done is gorgeous. It's spitting snow here and the temp is about 26, going down from there.
