I Walk in Fields of Gold

My friend Lisa challenged me to a "Weekend Warrior" Fitbit challenge this weekend, and so I was determined to get my steps in yesterday. Along the way, I marveled at the dandelions in our field.

That's our little pump house off to the left there. The dandelions are impressive, no? This is what happens when the Resident Mow Man has seven acres to keep mowed while simultaneously holding down a full time job. I keep telling him he needs to retire...like, today. Not to worry...there he is now!

He mows around the trees and rocks on his little riding mower, and then switches to the tractor for the big stuff. Before he got started, I walked around and took a few pictures of our prettiest weeds. History now, I'm afraid.

So I walked intermittently throughout the day while finishing up the top for the Written in Thread wallhanging. This started with the making of a strata of twenty-one 1.5-inch strips. Somehow I misread the directions because I really only needed 11 strips. Geez. Oh well. I put it in the pouch of scrap bindings, and I'll be able to turn it into a binding for a small quilt sometime.

So then I cut my strips into strips and voila! One finished quilt top.

This was made from scraps and fabrics in my stash. Even the embroidery floss colors were all from leftover floss. I scoured my stash looking for something I could use for the back, and this one seemed as good as any. I have a yard of it, which was just a little more than I needed. The quilt finishes up at 22 x 26 inches.

So that means I'm onto my bonus points project today...the wine carrier. Lots of time. I think I'll get it finished...and you know how I loves me my bonus points.

Yay for the bonus points! Thanks for the inspiration for the wedding quilt I have to do quickly. Your weeds provided the best color scheme-Yellows, greens, and white.

Your dandelions and pump house make a very pretty picture. Will that be a quilt theme soon?

Written in Thread is very charming! It is fun to read your blog as you have different projects going. I love the bee one and the chicken one is very funny.
That yellow field is a sight to see! Weeds are only flowers and plants that are not wanted. If you want a yellow field then those dandy lions are not a weed but your neighbors might hate you for the seed production!

So lovely, I would never encourage him to mow! And very impressive that you met your fitbit challenge -- another area where I am only a Slacker Success. Can't wait to see the wine tote. :)

What a lovely and "artistic" photo of your dandelion field. Who would've thought they could look so pretty.

It looks like a bigger quilt than 22x26. Cute! I like dandelions. Drives hubby nuts. I figure if it grows, leave it alone (of course, I can only grow weeds and dog fur).

I like the additional colors in the piano key border! They all go with the top!

I love dandelions and looks at that glow! The piano key border looks fabulous on your on you stitchery. And I have that backing fabric in my stash too - although it may be worked down into the FQ tote now.

Your dandelions are indeed impressive, I would have let them grow and made millions of wishes when they went to seed.

That is a very impressive field of dandelions, but oh so pretty. Though our neighbors wouldn't think so! Congrats on getting the border done for the wall hanging. You've been just motoring through last month's objectives.

Oh my - don't know how I missed this one! The field of Dandelions is spectacular!! I'm glad you memorialized it before the Resident Mow Man got to it. :)
Love that I'm not the only one who misreads instructions...
