6th Blogiversary Celebration Giveaway!

Before we get to the good stuff, I just have to document that I'm actually making progress on the paper-piecing. This, despite having a day of sloth yesterday. While I was doing my embroidery yesterday morning, I got so sleepy that I just had to lie down and take a morning nap. Maybe it was all the party planning. Who knows? But then, somehow, time passed and several hours went by with me snoozing away. When I woke up, I jumped up and shouted PAPER PIECING...HERE I COME because I just couldn't wait to get at it. Shortly thereafter, seven leaves appeared.

Does it seem to you that this is taking forever? Well, there's more. Today I'll make seven more...only heading in the opposite direction this time.

But that's not what you came for is it? Admit it. You're just here for the cake.

Today is my 6th Blogiversary!!!!! We heard there's a pawty going on here today. Smitty and Sadie are dressed up in their best pawty duds. Don't they look thrilled to be here?

We couldn't let the day go by without thanking all of you for these many years of sharing your knowledge, your support and encouragement, and your friendship. Although I've only met a few of you in person, it often feels as if we've known one another all our lives. As I was considering what to say today, I realized that when next year's blogiversary rolls around, Mike will be retired, and we'll be planning a trip that will take us all over the United States. It'll be the first time we've traveled with absolutely no time constraints (other than those imposed by weather), and I'm very hopeful that I'll get to meet many more of you in person and give you a big ole hug.

So let's get to the good stuff, shall we? Today I'm giving away an eight fat quarter bundle of Atlas Eden by Tula Pink for Free Spirit Fabrics. Pretty, huh?

So what do you have to do to win? Just leave a comment...any comment will do. If you're no reply, be sure to leave an email address. You can't win if I can't contact you. Since this giveaway is to thank you for following along over the years, this prize is reserved for followers only...new, old, salty, sweet, bitter, and twisted...just step on up. I'll leave this giveaway open through Sunday, July 17th and announce the winner on Monday, July 18th. Good luck and thank you!

Okay, the cats look over the moon to be wearing those party hats!! Sadie reminds me so much of our Molly who went over the rainbow bridge two years ago. Torties are so full of personality!

I've only started one paper piecing project that is sitting half way done right now. I enjoy the process but it takes SO long! I find your projects so inspirational, especially your applique. It's perfection.

I found you on Quilter Blogs when you first got Maggie and she and Smitty were having a hard time adjusting to each other. I have been avidly following ever since. I don't comment frequently, but I love going along for all your adventures and keeping up with the cats. I was so sad when you lost Maggie. I know you must have been heartbroken. The catio is pretty darn cool though. It will be interesting to see what Smitty thinks of it as he gets more used to it. He's a funny little guy.

Thanks for sharing parts of your world with the rest of us. I love following along!

Well, congratulations my friend!! And thanks for blogging and sharing your life and creative joys with us :*). I've enjoyed every post and look forward to many more of course, and always count you as one of my favorite blog friends. Hoping you are planning a swing out Nashville way on that around-the-nation trip - would love to share a big fat hug, and maybe even one from Smitty too =^..^= Number 1 is not usually Mr. Random Generator's favorite number, but hey, I do like being #1 :*)

Well dang! I was #1 while I was typing anyway LOL :*)

I've really enjoyed reading your blog thru the years and know that someone else has some of the same problems, solutions, life like mine. I know you are looking forward to Mike retiring and traveling, those days will fly by and before you know it you will be hitting the road. Keep up the great blog! Love the fur kids and all they do.

I have to say yours is one of the most fun blogs I've come across, you awe me with your quilting and piecing, tantalise with your foods and always have me chuckling when the cats give commentary lol
Many congratulations but I still think you deserve your own columns in a magazine as well!

Happy Day! I look forward to this blog everyday; you are such an entertaining and informative blogger. The fact that I, too, love cats (and cat quilts) doesn't hurt. Your great-sounding meals/recipes have actually encouraged me to branch out some and try new recipes--something that after 40+ years of marriage I have become lax at. Thank you for this great blog--keep up the good work. Here's to many more years! I am looking forward to hearing all about your travels.

Anyway, congrats on the anniversary of your blog. I don't know how you get so much done every day and still have the time & energy to write about it. But I thank you for including us in your endeavors! Please give Smitty and Sadie a hug from Auntie Patch!

Happy Blogiversary Barbara! There are only a couple of blogs that I read every word and yours is one of them. I love your style of writing (and Smitty's too), your humor, reading about your family (two legged and four legged) and the trips you take, your pictures, and let's not forget about seeing you work your way through a myriad of projects! Oh, I almost forgot about your food porn pictures, especially the sweets, make me hungry when I see them. You always amaze me with the number of projects you complete and the new techniques you try (quilting and cooking). Looking forward to seeing your adventures in the years to come.

Rosyquilter said...

Well, you know I always start my morning with coffee and reading blogs and of course, read yours from top to bottom. I need my walk through the garden, a visit with the purrfriends, and to see what you are doing in your kitchen and then what is happening with the sewing studio. Always entertaining and you take us on some lovely walks and also the steps in construction of a catio.

Happy 6th Blogiversary Barbara! I've not been around since you first started but have for at least the last year, maybe more. (old brain isn't very helpful sometimes when trying to figure things like this you know LOL) I love seeing the email notification of a new blog post from you, because they're always fun to read. I'm naughty and don't always comment, but do love reading. I need to work on that since you don't have a clue if there aren't any comments that anyone's reading. Some of your posts I send to my husband to read because he enjoys the kitty escapades at times. He wasn't a huge kitty person until we met and now I'm not sure he would like not having one around. We bought a beautiful Ragdoll not long after we got together and that was the best cat I had ever owned in my entire life. He was such a great cat with tons of personality and SO well behaved. We lost him a few years back and decided to get another Ragdoll. This one? UGH! I had less tears raising my 3 boys than making it through the first year with this cat. She is slightly better, but I'm not sure she will ever be what one might consider well behaved, or a joy to have around. She's SUCH a monster most days getting into everything she sees. She has her days though and times during each day where she redeems herself from us wanting to toss her out the door. LOL The biggest disappointment about her, aside from the horrible behavior? She doesn't purr. :( I've never heard of a cat that doesn't purr! Well, actually she does, but she likes to keep it to herself. LOL You can only hear her purring IF her head is right next to your ear and the entire house is dead silent, otherwise, nope, nothing.

Anyway, thank you for having a fun blog to read.

Congrats on 6 years of Cat Patches! You started blogging just a couple of months before I did. Hard to believe it's been that long. I remember your Foto Finish Saturdays, it was one of the first link ups that I participated in. It's been fun to hear about the kitties. I still miss George, but Smitty's done a good job taking up the challenge of being just as much of a character. He does not seem too thrilled about your blogaversary. I'm sure he'll come around though. You've made some gorgeous quilts over the last 6 years. Looking forward to seeing your and Mike's adventures over the next year (and of course the kitties as well). Congratulations!

Happy Blog Anniversary! I didn't get your feed from Bloglovin' until today. I'll bet you're looking forward to that trip and I assume you'll take your furry friends with you. I'm going to a wedding in San Diego in October and my husband has decided to stay home and keep our 3 furry friends company. The last time we went away, for just three days, we left them in a kennel. They caught "kennel cough" and we don't want to go through that again. If was seven years ago for our youngest daughter's wedding and the cats are older now.
