Here are the other blocks I've finished for this quilt so far.
The next time I work on this, I'll be doing this block:
When I finished with the embroidery, I started "big stitch" hand quilting Mumm's the Word. My stitches aren't exactly straight, but I'm going to get lots of practice on this before I'm finished. Every quilt is an opportunity for learning and practice, right?
Since I've never done this before, I'm not exactly sure if I'm doing it right, or whether I'm inventing something completely new and different. In the end, I might go down in the Annals of Quilting for this new technique. I said "Annals," pronounced with a short "A," if you don't mind.
Today is a grocery shopping day. When I get home I'll either do housework, or I'll start sewing together the blocks for the Live, Love, Teach quilt. One just never knows...

I love watching these blocks come to life! And isn't big-stitch quilting fun?!?
Your blocks are so cute!
The 'Raining' quilt is very cute and love seeing this progress. Once you get the rythm of the big stitch it will just flow so quickly.
Wow, I'm new to your blog and looking for inspiration and to learn how to get really good at applique. Beautiful start on these blocks!!
Caroline, your settings are at no-reply, and so I can't reply to you personally. I hope you'll check out my tutorial on fusible applique: http://catpatches.blogspot.com/2013/01/quilting-secrets-blog-hop-fusible.html
I love the colors you are using for the raining cats and dogs! It is going to be stunning! I am a handiquilter but I have never done the 'big stitch' I hope to give it a try at some point. Your is looking fabulous!
Raining Cats and Dogs is going to be such a pretty quilt. Hope you got in lots of stitching time after your errands yesterday.
The Raining Cats and Dogs is another favorite of mine (of course). I spent most of yesterday at the Vet so it seems appropriate today.
